D&D 4E The 4e Mystery Race is going to be...

I don't know if this has already been said, but I think it's orcs because of the introduction to R.A. Salvatore's new book. In the Orc King, the introduction talks about the Forgotten Realms 100 years in the future, as everyone knows. But it also introduces the idea of orcs being good. Drizz't is fighting to protect orcs in the introduction.

So that's where I would lay odds.

You took the words right out of my mouth. :)

Give them back! :D

I'd prefer full-blood Orcs to Half-Orcs. If they're pushing the Orc towards being a standard PC race (The Orc King, set in FR starts doing exactly that), then I find it hard to see Half-Orcs around, as they tend to be a reminder that Orcs like to... well... let's just say that I've never heard of a Half-Orc born of a happy marriage.
I'm sure that's just what the elves say of us....

Edit: Yes, I realize the Elf/Human love affair is iconic. But so is human nature, unfortunately.

I have.

Heard about a guy's character. Half orc. His daddy was a ranger on the frontier, his mother was an orc.

Think about it. She keeps quiet, does what he tells her, she doesn't complain because he's not as bad as male orcs, and well... Big Tracks of Land.

Bullywug! Bullywug!

Oh, Ok, not Bullywug. Seriously, both the Shadar-Kai miniatures/Shadowfell and Orc Orc King lines of reasoning work for me, so either of them seems distinctly possible. I'd prefer Shadar Kai, just because it's new and interesting.

I don't want Drow or Warforged, because one is, and should stay, evil (and besides, you don't want to encourage the Drizzt fanboy character creation method too much) and the other is setting specific.

I don't think it'll be goblins, for the same reason that others thing it will. You don't go to all the trouble of concealing the race in all the reports and let it slip in one, especially given the number of WotC people who read and post to these boards, and Scott Rouse's quick response to the Death Knight sword/feminine area picture.

Im betting orcs, if any of you red the most recent Salvatore book, some orc clans are trying to become more civilized, so it would fit.
