D&D 4E The 4e Mystery Race is going to be...

My money is on the Goblin! With all the evidence we have (Pete Schaefer mentioned a Goblin Ranger, Michelle Carter says the class of the Mystery Race is Ranger, the Mysrtery Race is negatively connotated in Chris Perkins campaign etc.) it seems more than likely. Also, Goblins are iconic D&D Creatures and they would add a second small Race to the PHB, now that they kicked the Gnome! Seriously, should Halflings be the only small PC Races? All the small writeups for armor, weapons and stuff only for one Race? I don't think so ;)

Remember the atomie, a 12" tall sprite, from the 1e MM2? I had one as a PC, for a one-shot.

I am both hoping for and expecting it to be Orcs, but the idea of it being Centaurs is not bad either.

Other than that, I have no idea.

Centaurs in dungeons? No, I don't think so. Climbing ropes, scaling walls, it just aint going to happen.

I agree with the 'big strong race is missing' arguement. Orc> Goliath> Hobgoblin

I'm guessing its orcs as well. Theres been a push in several recent fantasy settinsgs (Warcraft, Eberron, Confrontation, etc) to cast orcs as the "noble savage" archtype. Orcs could be divided among those loyal to Gruumsh and those who follow other traditions.

...

One thing's for sure... the mystery race had better not be another kind of :):):):)ing elf.
Haven't you heard? According to one rather well-known source, orcs are actually corrupted elves. ;)
