It's interesting for the Psion taking pieces of an opponents mind or placing pieces of their mind in opponents, and I can certainly see why it's an optional rule.

Yeah, it's so undefined and open to creativity that it works best with a DM and player who have a good collaborative storytelling relationship.

With Dragons new(continuing?) emphasis on actually having zero content, this article fits right in. I suppose it would be some nice lite reading in between really juicy articles....but it just comes across as a waste of space in the current atmosphere. I hate to say this, since he's the only author they actually publish, but Schwalb really needs to leave Dragon before his rep gets pulled down by the crap around him.

To each his own but I thought this article showed much more creativity and groundbreakingness than another article of purely combat related crunch.

And here I was actually liking the articles this month... Go figure.

Haven't finished this one, but so far I like what I see... Not something I'd make use of every day, but an interesting twist now and again.

I couldn't disagree more. This is exactly the kind of article I want to see; flavorful, full of interesting options and plot hooks, it's the first article in a while that has really made me excited and started the wheels turning.

Did you read the Eladrin one?

Lots of flavor in that one- although the items are basically just normal (rare.)

I think this article is really great actually. It's definitely very interesting and it's something I could see myself using at some point - not as something that can be done all the time, maybe something plot related - but it has its uses. At the same time, the sheer "DM Fiat" aspect that something like this has to even enter the game I can see being annoying. Then again as a DM, when something is this full of flavor and sheer interesting mechanics I make sure to work on putting it into my game in the first place.
