"The Best in d20 PDFs"

Did publishers see an upswing in sales though? It'd be great if they did and a good incentive for another compilation and might get more companies to be involved.
I can say that after seeing how many cool monsters it had from Denizens of Avadnu, had there been a reasonably-priced (i.e. something like 40-50% off print price) PDF version available they'd have gotten a sale from me.

Don't underestimate the power of Phil Reed....

* One book detailing new races, classes/prestige classes, feats, equipment, magic, and optional Combat or Magic rules for d20 System Fantasy.

* One book detailing new allegiances, starting occupations, feats, equipment, advanced classes, creatures, FX abilities, and campaign models for d20 Modern.

* One book detailing new aliens, starting occupations, campaigns, gear, starships, vehicles, mecha, robots, cybernetics, mutations, and optional "advanced science" rules foe d20 Future.

* And one book detailing Motocaust :)

:) Someday Christopher will get off of the Hollywood treadmill and we'll find some time to work on this. As it is, he's rarely home these days and spends most of his time on location doing whatever it is artists do on movie sets.

Isn't the print version only something like $20 these days?* And I thought they had been releasing the monsters in PDF.

* Which is definitely a sign of the current market. That book is worth the $40 they were originally charging and it should have seen wider distribution.

I'm in Sweden. Getting the more obscure RPG books here can be a chore.

Ah, sorry, I hadn't noticed. I can see where that plays right into my point about the distribution chain, though. :)

I'm pretty sure you can find some of the material in PDF but I'm not sure if the entire book is out there as a PDF.

Truthfully, I'd be more comfortable with a "best of" compiliation if it was pulled together by a real balance nazi. If you are the kind of person who includes really neat ideas that just don't work without a brilliant DM and sympathetic players... well, your compiliation is not for me. If 80% of the material you choose would work well with my campaign, the other 20% would allow a powergamer to destroy it, *and there is no way to tell the difference*- then your compiliation would *really* not be for me. But if you can find fun, flavorful stuff that still works smoothly with everything else- I would be quite interested!

I don't have a clear impression on what kinds of choices philreed or Ranger Wickett would make. I'd have to do some research first- check their comments on feats, classes and spells in the House Rules forum, and if their judgment seems solid on material that I can see, then I would trust their judgment on things I can't see.

I'm a big fan of giving the DM the control and enjoy things that some people find unusual. I'm definitely not a balance freak and will always end up on the side of fun/flavor vs. game balance. I think many people that have read my work will agree with me on this.
