The Black Company (aka Rawr, the Lady)

I'm not sure I'd place Lisa Bowalk quite that high. She's skilled enough to learn how to shift, but not shift back. And is captured by Goblin, all by himself.

And Lady, pre being named, is a step above Soulcatcher. Afterwards, then she's drawing on Kina's power, I'd guess it's close.

I think was more a lack of skill than lack of power; Shifter taught her for what, a year? Not more than two years, anyway. Shukrat and Arkana had more training than she did.

I've only read the first three books, so perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about. (most of the names mean on that list nothing to me)

What does Whisper do that ranks her so much higher? I know she's referred to as the most capable of the new Taken, but her magic didn't seem that strong. Is in book 4 and beyond?

PS

All magic aside.

Aside from all this magic, Black Company also has a PLETHORA of insanely cool things. For one, Singh and the Stranglers. The technique they used to dispose of bodies was, for lack of a better term, COOL! As well as all the political struggle, intrigue, argh. This really needs to happen.

I'd offer myself up as an administrative head, but I fear my abilities (and time) aren't warrant for that. All I can do is write, and I do graphic design professionally.

Again, does someone want to take this by the reigns and give Tor a shout, to make sure it's all kosher?

Another point I'd like to bring up is the White Rose. She had a huge anti-magic field around her, so she was both a blessing and a curse.

I really thing the 'tiered' system of magic is the way to go, and perhaps have a Feat chain for it. One begins with a 'trick', progresses to 'minor' abilities, etc. This way, someone can't even take levels of Wizard (Sorcerer doesn't seem to fit, as any innate abilities would manafest via White Rose-esque action), they have to accumlimate the appropriate Feats.

SOMEONE PLEASE HEAD THIS UP! I'd be GLAD to go graphics design, and write my white little punk rock arse off. :D

I think that if you don't do it, it may not get done. I had to shepherd the Middle Earth d20 project along for a long time to keep it going. It can be rewarding, ultimately.

Well, as I posted earlier, I have a number of rules in-place meant to produce a similar feeling as what TBC provides. Limper already made a board on his forums to discuss this topic (although thus far only he and I have posted), and I'm hip to contribute.

But before any "team" is assembled or a "top dog" is chosen, I think tossing a few ideas around might be in order to ensure that all involved have similar goals in relation to the setting.

Hey, man, you opened this can-o'-worms and got us all riled up. While I don't have the time myself to head the project, I would work with someone to spur the project on.
