The book you were all excited to get... and now gathering dust...

"Miniatures Handbook". Granted, I run campaigns online and thus do not use minis, but I expected to see guidlelines for 3D movement/combat, as was mentioned in online previews.

Cthlulu - but then I love Lovecraft.

And really, I'd have to say ALL of my books over the past year and a half have been widely anticipated, but gathering dust - because I have no life and no time to read any of them. But I am going to take some vacation and start reading...

(I work 40-70 hour weeks and on top of that I'm in Law School).

I've had a few...

Silver Age Sentinels... we actually played a few games of this, and it was REALLY fun.. but people wanted to go back to D&D.

Spycraft and d20 Modern - Ditto

Digital Burn - Awesome Cyberpunk setting for d20 Modern.. Sadly, everyone liked Shadowrun better, so the book never got used.

That is why I am afraid to buy BESM d20... I played it at GenCon this year and loved it, but no one else will probably play.

I hate to say this, but: The World Builder's Guidebook by Gary Gygax

Important note: World Builder is the book by Gygax.

World Builder's Guidebook is the excellent and to date unmatched world building resource written by Rich Baker for 2e that I still use to this day.

My bad. See, I told you it was gathering dust. I couldn't even remember the title. No offense to Mr. Baker. Maybe I should try and find that book on e-bay...

If you mean, which book turned out to be a disappointment, then I have several, but among the worst would be Oathbound: Domains of the Forge and Dieties & Demigods.

If you mean, which book have I not used because I can't find a game, then D20 Modern, hands down.

WarCraft.

I was hugely excited to pick this up, because I love the games. I picked it up, read it a couple times, noted the changes to the D&D rules, and how well written it was... and then realized I had almost no desire to play it. At all.

I've got a few:

Babylon 5: Love the B5 universe, love the game, can't find anyone to play it.

Star Wars d20: My players feel it's too much like D&D in space (although I don't see how) so they're not really into it. I'm thinking of picking up an old copy of WEG's d6 version and running it for them.

Spycraft: I ran a one-shot game last year that went very well. Haven't touched the game since.

Dieties & Demigods: My D&D game is set in the FR, so Faiths and Pantheons fits the bill better than Dieties & Demigods.
