The Charming Warden

Reis pauses, his keen eyesight directed down the road at the distant winged figures. He is silent momentarily, almost mesmerized by the dancers and the music borne faintly toward them on the wind.

After a moment he tears his gaze away and says, "Faeries... is that what they are?" His voice is distant. "Do you think they'll let us by without any trouble?"

[sblock=ooc]Reis has no ranks in knowledge (nature), which is a trained only skill. I'll include an untrained check in case you want it, but for now I'm going off the assumption that it doesn't count.

"Fairies. hrn. Right." From her expression, it's clear that Jamilee has no clue as to what they are or what's going on. It would seem Rivenblight didn't teach her much about the Fair Folk. She doesn't let something silly like utter lack of knowledge stop her from simply walking up, raising a hand in greeting, and grating out a "Hail," though.

After Jamilee hails the creatures ahead, Christopher adds his own greeting in Sylvan,

Christopher Speaking Sylvan said:
Greetings joyful creatures. It is a wonderful day to revel as well as travel.

[sblock=OOC]HM: Jonah does find 4 goodberries. Would you like to use them now, or later?

The SRD says that untrained knowledge checks can be made, but they can never exceed a 10 (common knowledge).

pneumatik: That's fair. Upon seeing tiny, winged creatures dancing in the woods, it's a good guess that they're fairies, without any knowledge at all.

CG: There certainly are several kinds of fey, but even if Christopher has encountered these in the past, he may not necessarily know what they are called or their special abilities, which is what a high knowledge check would give him. So, the 4 doesn't have to mean that Christopher has false knowledge, unless you want to. =)[/sblock]

The fairies look your way at Jamilee's gruff hail. The fiddler keeps fiddling, and the dancer shouts in a tiny voice, "What's that?" It raises its hand to its ear, allowing it to better hear Jonah's sylvan greeting.

The dancing creature shoots a glance at its fiddling companion and then both leap into the air with delight. Clapping its hands together as it flutters back down to the ground, the dancing fairy calls out, "Where are you headed? Are you in a rush? Come dance with us for a while!"

[sblock=Tibard]You're not sure exactly how you know, but that brief glance between the fairies held something other than simple delight at meeting travelers.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] Very cool, Jonah will eat 2 and save 2 since they last for 24 hours. Probably eat the others in the morning if no one else has a need by then. Also Jonah doesn't speak Sylvan it was Christoper who spoke to them.

So hp now 11 out of 13, correct.[/sblock]

Tibard Mountainbore, dwarven cleric of Hyrag

"Careful, everyone. These two little folks are up to something," Tibard says to the party.

He then approaches the two likely fairies and says, "I'm afraid I am in a rush, little people. I'll pass on the dance, thank you, but I pray Hyrag shines on your today."

"Kind," rasps Jamilee. "But we've places to be, and I've a bum hrneg." She indicates the bloody bandaging, with what she hopes is a decent attempt at an apologetic smile, but ends up looking more like an uneven sneer.

Tibard (and Jamilee?) walk(s) up to the singing, dancing fairies. The music is very catchy, and you can see why they seem to be enjoying themselves so much. But Tibard remains stern, and declines. The dancing fairy pouts, and the playing fairy suddenly switches tunes into a slow dirge. "Too busy to dance? What a miserable existence..."

The dancer slowly moves to the new, sad song, as Tibard walks by.

[sblock=OOC]Jamilee? Going with Tibard? What does everybody do?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] Jonah will follow the group since he doesn't know anything about the faeries. He is truly a follower type and not a leader. [/sblock]

Jamilee forms up with Tibard, walking on. As soon as she thinks she's out of earshot, she hoarsely whispers to him. "Weird. Why the middle of the hrnoad?"
