"Oh, no." says Ozan. "As he says, we can´t let him flee after what he did, and we have to free that poor man. We´re able to hold our own, so don´t worry for us."

Thaimon began to regret his decision. Who were these humans? He recognized one as the old cleric he helped after his fall, but the others were complete strangers. Any or all of them might have been involved in starting the fire, and he very well could be walking into a trap. But there was nothing to it but to continue, and act as if he is accepting their help, suspicion free.

"Any help in getting to the bottom of this fiendish plot will be greatly appreciated. But be careful not to get yourselves hurt. Now if you would hold that light closer, I will see about opening this door."

On entering the chamber you can clearly see a large brackish pool in the center, it is impossible to see how deep it is. Thaimon avoided the pool in by instinctively staying to the walls. The pool flows sluggishly and there is a channel carrying sewage in from the right side of the chamber. The door is large, and bound with iron but the wood has rotted in the damp, robbing it of much of its strength. There are no obvious cracks in it yet. The floor around the pool is slick, but not hazardous as long as you move slowly (less than a double move) The elf turns and begins to tinker with the lock -

Tote looks Thaimon over, and raises his eyebrow at such a slight figure (OOC:STR 10 of thaimon) instructing them not to get hurt. "If you see a trap, let me know. I can aid you with magic to allow you to be unhurt by it's effects."

Tote's suggestion comes a moment too late.

Thaimon easily opens the lock then collapses as electricity flows from the lock causing his hair to stand on end and teeth rattle. He goes rigid then falls beside the pool. The door remains closed. As he falls everyone but Tote notices something move in the brackish water – Ozon can make out the head of a large snake, peering out of the water.

The echo of haimon´s pain hits Ozan, and he shakes his head "Oh, no!" mutters, and when he spots the snake immediately shouts: "There´s something else in the water!" with a face full of horror.

"Sorry. This also hurts me" thinks, as he prepares to crush the snake´s mind.

[ooc: Manifest Mind Thrust, augmented to 2 pp; spend focus to raise the saving throw by 2 with Greater psionic endowment. That means: 2d10 damage, will ST DC 16 negates]

Ralan says: "We must act quickly so the elf doesn't drown"

If Ralan can reach the snake with his staff, he will strike at it (2 attacks). If not, he'll use his xbow . If he sees that the snake is going to attack the elf, he will burn his psionic focus and use up the walls to end up on the ledge next to Thaimon, to defend him.

Tote will move to use cure light wounds on thaimon. If he hears the warnings of others in time, he will also try to defend the falled elf with flurry of blow attacks and so on.
