One thing I never thought I'd want to do was RP via video...until I had to.
Then, something occurred to me: by mixing the FATE system, with its super-easy, on-the-fly mechanics, and worldwide community of gamers now made accessible by the proliferation of video-conferencing, I might be able to make a "clarion call" to gamers around the world who, upon seeing a post in which I offer to run a FATE game via Zoom (or Google Hangouts or whatever) "right now" or "tonight at 7 pm EST" or some such, might come ready to play.
Someone suggested using Discord to muster pick-up game players, but I don't find that to be effective. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.
What do folks think about this idea, using the EN World Community for that? I'm a GM; FATE has been my jam in recent years (because I don't have the time or patience anymore to generate NPCs in other systems); and sometimes, the spirit just moves me at odd times to RP. But since we're not kids anymore, I can't just bring my books around the corner and knock on my friends' doors and say, "wanna game?" But I kinda can now, virtually. And since the shutdown has gotten people used to videoconferencing more than ever before, I think more people might be open to this than ever before.
