The Closed Eye (DM: Halford, Judge: garyh)

OOC: Not to spoil your aid another check Kenhood, but I believe aid another is a standard action. We should do that next round, Palindrome and Tander can make aid another checks to help Atreus to find that stupid control panel.

Round 2, continued

Both Palindrome and Atreus pound on the remaining crossbow, while snatching glances at the walls looking fruitlessly for the control panel. Tander misses. The crossbow's housing looks battered and weakened from the onslaught.

(ooc: I'm gonna say no to the sneak attack. The crossbow isn't really defending itself as such, so hiding from it won't help you get a better shot. It might help you keep it from hitting you, though...)

Round 3

The crossbow fires at Tander again, a shot that would have hit him squarely without the protection of the fort. (9 damage to the fort)

[sblock=The Fort]
The Fort (medium vehicle)
HP: 84100
Space: 3 squares by 1 square
AC 3; Fort 10, Reflex 3
Speed: 3 less than the slowest creature carrying it, or 4 less if only one creature is carrying it. Always at least one square.
Creature-Drawn: The Fort is carried by one or more of the creatures inside it. Carrying the fort takes both hands for each carrying creature. Moving the fort takes a move action from each creature inside it, and can only be moved during the driver's turn. That is if Woe and Tander are inside the fort, and Woe uses a move action to move it on his turn, then on Tander's turn, Tander is considered to have already used his move action for that round. If Tander declines to use his move action, he does not remain inside the fort. If the driver uses two move actions to move the fort twice, each creature inside must use two move actions to remain inside.
Driver: Whoever's in the front of the Fort. The driver must be carrying the fort, using both hands, or it cannot move.
Load: Three medium creatures, or five medium creatures if they are squeezing (PHB p.292).
Superior Cover: Creatures in the Fort have superior cover against foes the the front, top, or one side of the Fort, and have an additional +2 bonus to AC and reflex.

"Noooooooooooo!" howls Palindrome in obvious distress, "Don't hit the fortress! Love the fortress!"

"Loooooove it!"
he pleads, sobbing in anguish.

Tander can't help but smile at Palindrome's oversized reaction. "Take heart, Palindrome. From the looks of things, this fort can take a lot of punishment. We should give her a name befitting her station, don't you think?"

“Nah, she doesn’t seem that fit for terrorizing and traumatizing halflings.”

“We should call her Adie - she’s just as thick and has at least that many screws loose.”
