Creichthyans are hybrids of shark and man that dwell under the sea, particularly near the Ragged Isles. Over 10 feet tall, creichthyans are covered in a gray, rough-textured skin. Their eyes are a dead black, much like the eyes of great white sharks. Most creichthyans are covered in dozens of scars.

The creichthyan is fully amphibious, and suffers no penalties for actions made out of water.

Keen Scent (Ex): A creichthyan can locate creatures by scent within a 180-foot radius and detect blood in the water at ranges of up to a mile.

CREICHTHYAN SOCIETY
Dwelling in beautiful coral cities that belie their mercenary nature, creichthyans actually have a quite structured society, organized by caste or social grouping. There are four castes in all: dreadnought, skirmisher, dominator, and wavetalker.

They are notorious mercenaries, and offer their services to undersea races. Creichthyans prefer to be in the employ of evil races such as sahuagin or kuo-toa, but a few have been found employed by locathah, tritons, or even paranoid nobles among the marid.

CREICHTHYAN CHARACTERS
The favored class of creichthyans varies by caste. Creichthyan dreadnoughts generally take class levels of barbarian, skirmishers generally take class levels of fighter, dominators are clerics, and wavetalkers are wizards. Creichthyan dominators worship Sekolah, deity of the sahuagin. As such, they have access to the Evil, Law, Strength, and War domains.

As a follow-up, the creichthyan is a personal favorite of mine. I first created it 13 years ago, and it's one of the few things surviving (in name anyway, as the original was a rip of FF1's caribe) from the very first incarnation of my campaign world.

Nice, an anthropomorphic shark, like that hadn't been done before...

Check out the Templates + Humanoids = fun thread for an Anthropomorphic Megalodon of Legend (A.K.A: The Shark King), they seem like they would work well together.

And in case you hadn't noticed, I really like your work :D

I figured - you reply to about every thread I post! ;)

Thanks - I think I have a handle on monster creation now, and now that I'm getting more into developing content for my webpage and thinking about ways to make the campaign mine, rather than generic DnD set in my world, I'm starting to find all sorts of ideas. Between my own monsters and those I'm statting for my friend, there'll be no shortage of monsters from this end, I don't believe. ;)

Good to know people are liking my work. Maybe I'll even try my hand at penning an MM, who knows.

And I'll get working on that level adjustment. I meant to include one, I just flat-out forgot.

Edit: I added one.

There are lots of ways to change a D&D setting from a standard one, the best of which is introducing the 'campaign twist'.... :D

By the way, the LA should be +4, not +5. And it should have one additional feat.

Mornin Krish, finally Enworld is up huh?

Well, there's just a thing or two I would like to ask. Wouldn't it be reasonable to add something about what happens if they travel on land? Like they slowly loose constitution, get a dexterity penalty or something, or are they just as functionable when on land as in the water (not taking into account their lowered movement rate)?
Also, what is Keen Scent, is it a variation of the Scent Feat / Ability? Otherwise, good stuff :)
