(OOC: That's true --it sounds like a powerful spell but it's only first level. Still, she thinks that the meleers can handle the shattered remains of the enemy group)

"Fine, in defensive position." Rinaldo gather at teh same time of Hogarth. The cleric summon his magic, converting his sanctuary into a CLW on Tenebrynn. Rinaldo take a defensive stance and get ready for the next attack.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Rinaldo ready action and will attack a creature, trying to kill one who will attack a caster. He will use Combat Expertise to rais ehis AC by 4, reducing his attack at +1 (masterwork bonus... yeah I know, Weapon Finesse will be my next feat, but I don't regret having taken Leadership at level 6... Hogarth is doing a fine job.)

Hogarth healed Tenebrynn for 7 hp. Next round, Hogart use his wand on the person with the lowest hp in the group (which mean himself if he act before the creatures.)

Status
Rinaldo: 22/40
Hogarth: 10/41
Tenebrynn: 12/27
Ashnar: 12/26
Vanitri: 24/40[/SBLOCK]

*Everything happens nearly at once. First, two of the creatures pop into appearance and try to destroy Tenebrynn once and for all, flanking him as they start their attack. Strange that there are only two, since they killed three out of eight.*

*Rinaldo makes an incredibly defensive strike against one of the beasts, and unsurprisingly, the attack falls short. However, Vanitri's blade strikes true. Until that point, both of the creatures looked more-or-less equally singed, though the one Vanitri attacked was a bit worse off. After the blow and Ashnar's Sparkstrike lancing tiny motes of flame between the two, the one Vanitri struck is laid low. This does not prevent Tenebrynn from taking a nasty cut and falling unconscious, though Hogarth heals the fallen wizard back to consciousness immediately.*

*Tenebrynn's attacker vanishes in a very distraught way.*

"Well, that's all four of them, I guess," Laynie ponders quietly.

(OOC: Tenebrynn loses 14 HP and then gains 5.)

"Thank you very much Hogarth. You've made a connection that I have not, Laynie. Why do you say four? We were attacked by eight opponents." replies Tenebrynn shacking the cobwebs from his head. He's been knocked unconscious like that an aweful lot since he left the library.

"No. Vanitri hurt one of these creatures, but two returned with sword wounds."

(OOC: Should I make a Int or Knowledge check to realize that
these creatures were somehow temporarily displaced?
)

(OOC: You could, or--)

"There were four of them, but they were riding a temporal slipstream, so that half of them were borrowed from the future at any given time."

(OOC: For what it's worth, Ashnar rolls a 17, not enough to recognise that (if it is indeed true), although he could tell they were probably linked in some way and might have been soul-linked twins, clones using a Fission spell, or even just using a simple Shield Other.)

"Fascinating, I can tell that you are going to be an asset on this trip already." replies Tenebrynn.

(ooc: do either of Tenebrynn's skills help at all (arcana + 12, planes +4))

(OOC: Let's see--)

*Tenebrynn has heard wild theories of chronomantic effects that might work like that, but nobody is insane enough to test them because those who dabble in chronomancy invite disaster as the fabric of the universe begins to tear.*

Vanitri ponders anything like that off the top of his head (He'll try too).

"Well, I could do without running into something like that again. Looks like you took quite a beating," he says. "I've a fealing though, that oddities like that are par for the course."
