The Cursed Ones

There is a pause in the casting and those awake enough to hear it, hear, "Greetings from Thay"

Then you see to rays shoot out from 2 different hands moments apart from each other and strike Fez, the first seemingly having no effect, however with the second ray Fez is reduced to a small pile of dust.

so we do see where this is coming from right? If so, on my initiative, Maur will draw his weapon and run 30' towards the thing, if it is further than 30' away (how far away is it?).

on his action Justiel Takes to the air and flys to intercept any more magical attacks (gotta love SR.) As a representitive of the divinity. I allow you one chance to surrender. Do you take it? or do you suffer my mercies? He says this as the Greatsword appears in his right hand. In the relative darkness Justiel glows with a soft but strong light.

I]Maur the creature is roughly 20 feet away from you on the opposite side of the fire, you can move to attack and get one attack on him.So I need your numbers for your attack.[/I]

btw these are surprise round actions the rest of you will be allowed to hit on the creature after this set of rounds.:D

Enraged by the "death" of his new friend Maur roars in a fit of rage

ok then, maur will attack, his attack bonus with just 1 attack is +15, but I will use power attack 5, bringing his attack to +10. His damage is 2d6+14.

OOC:Maur went into 1 of his 3 rages per day. Do you want us to roll attacks, or are you going to?

When Mirnx is awaken he readies himself and begins fiddling in his robes with spell components, he brings out a short piece of rope and begins to chant.

OOC: When surprise round is over initive is roll 16 +2 = 18, casting choke on the casting creature.

Seres awakes in time to see the gnome be desintegrated. Acting instintively he casts Polymorph Other on the enemy, attempting to turn it into a small turtle.

Ooc: It might be best if the DM does all the rolling henceforth. It should speed things up considerably.

Maur strikes true seemingly tearing through the creature and seems to also disrupt the spells it was casting but as it seems to be moving out of sync with the normal flow of time it seems to slip into casting one more spell. Once completed the creature disappears with a sudden pop.

OOC MAX damage freakin crit

It got away!
And that's probably a good thing. That damn creature could have killed us all. He looks around at the group, And what now? Most of my new companions will likely want to avenge the gnome, I couldn't care less about that... It would be a pity to lose the group though, they seem capable...

Walking up to the remains of the gnome, searching (and detecting magic) for anything of value (wealth, magic, documents etc.), he keeps putting his thoughts into order. Finally he turns and adresses the people around him.

We've all agreed to escort Fez and his cargo to Homeglen, and to fight off any attacker along the way. We agreed to do this in exchange for promised payment, payment we have not yet received. It is my intention to continue on to Homeglen, thereby keeping my end of the agreement, but the other end must also be upheld. Since Fez is unable to pay us I intend to take my share of the wealth on what remains of his body. Should that amount be insufficient we should all take a share in the cargo, to sell it at the first possible opportunity.

I suspect some of you might wish to go beyond the terms of the agreement, and keep fighting for Fez's cause even now, when he is beyond even gratitude. This night's battle has revealed only a minuscule amount of his enemies power. The Red Wizards of Thay are immensely dangerous, and I caution you all against opposing them further. There are easier pickings elsewhere.

Ooc: ;) Sorry about this Calim, I have no intention of disrupting the adventure. It's only that my character isn't really particularly heroic. I'm sure others will speak out for goodness and honour, and Seres will go along with the majority of the group (though he will grumble about it a bit).

Mirnx lowers his arms, his target for the spell having vanished. He quickly scuttles over to the remains of the gnome and begins inspecting it with a curious eye. "How can this be... He is not dead there is no blood, and if there is no blood his life still beats in this ash....." He trails off as he kinda lets a bit of Fez's remains slip through his fingers and is blown away by the wind. "Or maybe I am wrong and his blood is nothing but dust..... Ahhh well what can we do, I say we move along, head to that town and see what we can learn there. Someone should bleed for this."
