The Dance of Souls

"Gur, let's... uh, not get too exited here, OK? These wands *do* cost money, we don't want to wear them out unless we really need to. I mean, that is, even though he's letting us use his wand, instead of ours, it would be nice not to waste it... ok?"

Banion blushes at having said so much, and shuffles his feet hoping Gur won't react badly to the suggestion.

To Gur's surprise, the wound on the cleric's hand indeed closes, leaving no trace except for a few droplets of blood. After healing the prick on Gur's finger, he continues, smiling "See, you can do it. Your friend is right, though - the power of a wand is limited by how often it can be used. 50 uses for a unused wand, such as the one you bought. And do not worry about it being unnatural - it is a tiny, but present spark of the natural order enabling you to use this wand. That or a devotion to the gods of nature, such as Verdante, I'm not fully sure how that branch of magic functions. But few things are more natural.
And for 'pass for a hunter' - your friend told me you are adapt at tracking, and especially so with big creatures.

Remember, the word for the wand you bought is 'Serendipity.'"

I'd prefer to walk, I've said that before. However, I leave it to your discretion. I'm not exactly the one being brought low by a little bit of walking.

"Good, good. Lead on, sir. My legs are short, but you won't hear me complain of the exercise."

"Rose Marie, could your pony carry some extra weight, or is it too overburdened?"

On the way out of town, if there is a means to carry the extra supplies, Banion will buy enough rations for a two week journey, and three spare waterskins. There may very well be places to purchase additional supplies along the way, but Banion would feel safer with a margin for error.

Beamer will also procure some more supplies, so he has a total of 2-weeks rations.
"Would someone mind lending me a hand with these rations? I don't eat much, but I'm afraid I am able to carry any less."

As they begin walking, Beamer inquires the other spell casters what spells they know. He volunteers that he can cast mage armor and a spell to sap the strength from an opponent.
"If we spot trouble and have a moment to prepare, I will cast my protection spell on anyone without armor. That way, Azaroth and Sam will be free to cast more of their spells. I can cast it on you too, Rose Marie. It will protect you better than your light armor, but not slow you down at all. I'll rely on my crossbow and a cantrip that fires a small quantity of acid for offense."

OOC: If we get into combat before I get back on the 26th, Beamer will cast mage armor on Azaroth, Sam, Rose Marie, and himself (assuming no objections) if we know we are going to be attacking or attacked in the next hour. Then he will use his crossbow, unless touch attacks are way easier then he will use Acid Splash.

" I personally think that if we can't have at least 70 gold pieces in reserve before we get there, then we should just walk or find a cheaper method."

Hmm thats a valid point. Well with my 75 and some of your 70 and some of banions 14, we should have enough. But like you said that is 70 pieces short. I don't know how much Beamer or Sam can give. But I guess it would just be easier to walk that way we can have emergency funds in case.

Rose Marie thinks for a moment as it's asked if her pony could carry more weight. She nods, but a little hesitantly. "Sure, he could carry a lot more if everyone is walking, but the more he carries the slower he'll go. I think he could probably carry another 45-50 pounds without slowing us down too much, but beyond that I don't know. Really, I'd suggest that rather than making Jasper carry everyone's stuff, we get another pony to help spread the load for the whole team. I mean, it's not that I mind having Jasper carry stuff, just I don't want him so loaded down it'd slow everyone down."

(ooc: Just giving some advance warning, I'm going to be out of town from Thurs (23rd) through the 2nd of January. Is there a wasy I could get someone (Knight?) to NPC Rose for me while I'm out of town if something comes up that needs her action?)
