The Dance of Souls

(OOC: It seems the group decides to walk to Lathirn - unless you want to continue to check the money you have to see if a ship passage is acceptable? In total, you have 385 gp; I haven't substracted for provisions, but I also only counted the gold pieces.

As for being away, I'm fine with both NPCing a few members of the group, and have a member be NPC'd by another player. Just tell me how the character usually will react.)

If we are traveling on Foot, Gur will make survival checks to provide provisions for himself. If we are going by any other means, he will buy 14 trail rations.

Its settled then? We are walking to Lathrim. Well I suppose I should get some more supplies. I'll go get some more rations.

Once outside the city limits, Banion begins to practice as he walks. A blade of energy materializes in his hand, and then quickly disapears. He does so again, and you realize he's trying to throw it. Unfortunately, it vanishes the moment he releases his grip. Undaunted, he continues trying. On one occasion, the short sword sized (for a Halfling) blade makes it nearly an inch away from his hand.

"Hey! I think I almost had it that time!"

Unfortunately, he's unable to reproduce this "feat."

From the way Banion's acting, he seems to think that the energy blade is no more remarkable than a yo-yo.

On the morning of the next day, the group sets out to leave Orussus eastwards. Few other travelers are seen, most with the destination of Orussus or beyond.

Nothing remarkable happens, with Gur being well able to provide the group with food (I took an earlier comment to mean that he'd be willing to do so - Survival rolls of 23, 23 and 20) for the first three days. Early on the third they, they finally reach the crossroads south to Lathirn.

The next two days go just as well (Gur - Survival rolls 26 and 28), with the party crossing the bridge over the River Roars. As the group sets up camp at the end of the fifth day, Gur notices a few tracks:
[sblock]It seems that a small pack of wild dogs recently passed through here, moving further south. The tracks are somewhat erratic, as if the animals were weak.[/sblock]

"Hey all, would you mind if I was sidetracked for a minute? There's some tracks here, dogs probably. They look like they might be injured or maybe sick. I'm not sure how foods doing out this way, they could even be starved if things have been going against them with winter coming. I want to check it out, and see if I can figure out whats up. Since we are only moving so fast, would it bother anyone if I try and scope this out? I can meet you up ahead on the road, I might not be particularly fast, but with the short ones I can certainly catch up with a little bit of running."

"Maybe I could borrow a bit of food too, just in case?"

Gur wants to follow the tracks to figure out the circumstances, and then catch up with the party with some degree of running/and/or forced march at his full speed. If he could borrow a couple trail rations that could possibly help.

Knight Otu:
[sblock]This might work out really well for me, I was planning on taking a dog as an animal companion when I get to my next character level. If you would be ok with it, I'd like to try the above.[/sblock]

"If the others agree, I won't complain. Of course, we could always happen upon a nest of ogres or something, and then it would be every man for himself."

Sam, realising that people around him are talking, and that this is something that may be more importent the theory of magic/anti-magic interactions that he was thinking about, turns his head.

"Huh? oh, we are going to fight a bunch of Ogres? did they steal the art objects? Well, guess we should go then! I'd be carefull though. Might be some of those powerful spellcasting ogres among them."
