The Dance of Souls

1d20 + 1= 15

ugh just speaking to you for the time I did makes me wonder if it truly is merely a front of incompetance and not the actual thing.

On his first turn Azaroth will jump back and cast mage armor on himself.

OOC: though I only have 3.0's PHB if mage armor is the same I have now a 15 armor class.

11+4=15

Beamer reacts quickly as the situation takes a turn for the worse. He makes a gesture and speaks a word of power. A ray of sickening black streaked with red, similar to Beamer's hair, bursts from his hand toward Azaroth's attacker.

OOC:
Initiative (1d20=16) + 4 = 20
Beamer casts Ray of Enfeeblement at the most heavily armed attacker he can see.
Ray attack (1d20+5=21) Edit: Should be 22 to include Point Blank Shot. Of course if they have 22 touch AC I think we're in trouble.
If hits: Strength penalty (1d6=1)
D'oh, that was working so well. It think the +1 per 2 levels gets rounded down at first, right?
Mage armor should still be in effect for Beamer. AC 19
Spells remaining:
0th 5, 1st 1

ooc: I figured I'd be after the bad guys, which is why I hadn't posted an action yet. However, in case your waiting for me, Banion intends to sling a stone at a likely looking target.

edit: More specifically, Banion would like to position himself 20 to 30 feet from his target (to use point blank shot) and put his back to the alley wall, or better yet a corner, to minimize the chances of being flanked.

(Actually, I've had a few problems with placing the characters on the field due to computer slowdown. Anyway - the halfling looking towards the west is Banion. The thief without a number is Fourdrinker. Any other qs on the map before we start in full?)

Initiative:

Beamer: 20
Azaroth:15
Gur: 10
Banion:5
(Interesting numbers:eek:)
Bad Guys: Not yet known

OOC: Looks fine. Beamer takes a 5ft step forward to S9 to cast his Ray of Enfeeblement (above) at Thief 4.
You asked for questions so: Can 3 or 4 of these guys drop dead of a heart attack? :)

That's banion on the far edge of the map, then, presumably next to beamer? Could we get more map to east? I don't want to close with people if I don't have to. Unless of course, east of the map is more wall...

OOC: Heh no questions here. Though I would be in full support of 3 or 4 of them dropping dead. Dear god let Gur get back in on this thing.

Unless things shuffle, if there is more room to the east my ideal position would seem to be at about 7U, targeting 5 unless 4 is more wounded, in which case targeting 4. Atack +7 for d3+2.

(Beamer is the halfling at the edge of the map. The road you're in is about 4 squares wide, so there is some more room. A mistake noted for further map.)

Beamer almost jumps forward a few feet as he casts his Ray of Enfeeblement. The thief lets out a grunt as it hits him, but apparently, it does not weaken him considerably. Azaroth raises his mage armor, and then sees the three thieves approach, short swords drawn. The three hack at Azaroth, but only one hits, the other attacks deflected by the force armor <4 points of damage>. Fourdrinker skips away and around the corner, but not running yet. The other two thieves, alerted to the presence of Banion and Beamer, call out "Got company!", and close in on Beamer, failing to connect due to his mage armor.
Gur brings down his quarterstaff on 3's skull, though it results only in some bleeding (attack roll 22, damage 2). Patlin seems to be truly distracted, as he fails to connect with his sling (Attack roll 9).
The observer of the Ashen Talon simply watches, and comments with a female voice "That should be interesting."

Initiative:

Beamer: 20
Azaroth:15 <4/8>
Thieves
Gur: 10
Banion:5 (off-map, U7)
Ashen Talon Observer

Ongoing effects:
Ray of Enfeeblement on 4: 10 rounds
Mage Armor on Azaroth and Beamer
