The Dark Tower (trailer)

God, do you know how awesome it would be for Walken to be the Man in Black?

(In my best Walken voice) "Your father...gave me this bullet. Five long years, he wore this bullet up his a&%. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the bullet. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my a&$ for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the bullet to you."

...and Clint Eastwood as Roland?

Yeah, that gun bit was beyond stupid. And just really fake looking. I don't expect him to become an expert with a revolver, but they could have make it less silly looking, or maybe gotten a body double who can handle weapons proficiently.

But really, my problem with this is that the first book is probably the worst (until the last couple). The kid was annoying in the book. He's annoying in the trailer. The series gets good in the 2nd book.

Well, that and the casting of the villain. Why not Christopher Walken? It looks like he's trying to channel him, so why get a low grade knock off of the real thing?

Huh.

I just reread this to make sure, and...yep. I disagree with literally every statement in this post! Especially the idea of Walken as Flagg. I love Walken, but...no. He would not be a good Flagg/Man in Black. Even 10 years ago.

Just...god no.

I could have seen him back when The Stand miniseries had originally been aired, but Jamey Sheridan has that creepy look about him when he smiled which worked.

Yeah, he was perfect as Flagg.

I think McConahey looks and sounds pretty great as Flagg. Not quite as perfect as Sheridan, but there is some nastolgia bias there.

I also don't have any problem with the "superhero" quality of how Roland reloads. It's not what I imagined, obviously, but it is probably more visually compelling than a direct translation of what he does in the books would be.

And obviously I am fine with the changes to how the story goes. Can't say why, because spoilers, but yeah, definately ok with it.
