The decline of the Happy Meal

hafrogman said:
I always liked the issue of Dragon that said something along the lines of:

"If you have a computer with Windows 95 and a CD-Rom Drive, this issue contains a demo of the D&D character creation software.

If not, this issue contains a nifty coaster."

Congratulations hafrogman, you just gave me my first laugh of the day.

Is it a Happy Meal mainly because of the toy surprise? Because I wasn't happy about the size of the burger and fries when I was young.

I'd rather have a big plate of Loco Moco or Spam, Egg & Rice. Either one would make me happy.

I was beyond Happy Meal target age when they were introduced (1979). Of course, that hasn't stopped me from buying them for certain toys (the Animaniacs toys come to mind).

Ditto...I was already a teenager. A few years ago, when I was big into collecting Hot Wheels, I'd wind up getting two cheeseburger Happy Meals for lunch, to get two Hot Wheel toys.

And, don't even get me started on what happened when Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut were doing Star Wars toys. I can still taste those tacos. ;)

Maybe those weren't CDs...

Maybe they were leftover discs from Dolph Lundgren's cinematic Tour de Force, I Come In Peace!

Or maybe you're supposed to throw 'em at each other, Xena/Ninja style!

I'm with you 100% Aurora- they're supposed to give the kiddies a toy to make the day HAPPY!

God, I feel old. I was already past the Happy Meal age by the time they were invented.

Same here.........

Happy meals are old school to my kids now. This is why I don't go there anymore. Mcmoney costs me 26 dollars now to visit. Cheese & Rice that is a lot!

depends on why and what will happen to the said toy....... :uhoh:

That reminds me of the year that I got a my little pony (hair clip?) in the happy meal just before the outbrake of the great war between the A-Team, the Rebel Alliance, GI-JOE and the Auto-Bots. Sadly, there were few survivors since Flint's funeral pyre went out of control and consumed the entire temple we built out of Happy Meal boxes.... ah Memories..
