The Doors

Joël of the FoS

First Post
Just saw the Doors of the 21 Century tonight in Montréal.

I wasn't expecting a lot but it is simply amazing. They are in good shape, Manzarek and Krieger. Every riff we know well is turned into a long, delicious solo.

Ian as the singer is great - his presence on stage reminds a lot of late Jim, and his voice is great.

The song list is just hits. Really, it finishes with LA Woman and they are back for the encore with Riders on the Storm and a very long Light my fire. What more can you ask for?

If they ever pass near you, run to get there.

deep cuts are always nice, and they always did them in concert back in the day. ;) come on, Not to Touch the Earth, The End, Spanish Caravan, Crystal Ship, Peace Frog...

They played none of this list :(

However, the set was amazing. This is the approx set list, from what I remember (order may not be right):

Roadhouse Blues
Break on through
Alabama song (Whiskey bar)
back door man
who do you love
Love me two times
touch me
Five to one (a lesser known song in the general public, dedicated to George ":):):):)ing" Bush :) )
LA woman

Riders on the Storm
a very long Light my fire

Again, I can't stress enough how Manzarek and Krieger are good musicians. Not the quickest or best virtuoso, but they beat anybody in melodics. Manzarek doesn't play the bass notes on his keyboard (they have a bass player), so he concentrates on the higher end of his keyboard (and it's very very good).
