I thought it was funny that they basically said “Chromatic Dragon Wyrmlings were too cute and players didn’t want to kill them.” Which is accurate in my experience.

I'm not really sure why this was even a problem to begin with.

An adult lion or a crocodile looks dangerous as heck, big danger, but their baby versions? Cute as heck. Why not dragons as well?

edit; actually no hold on, "the players didn't want to kill baby dragons" is a wild reason to have lol. Of course players don't want to kill little baby dragons, why you trying to encourage them to do so, WotC?

It's frustrating that they make so many changes without thinking about the broader implications for settings causing serious lore issues in the future. That is one of the problems with the Rule of Cool coming first.

Really not much of an issue, I would rather say this is a good example of the rule of cool freeing the designers from constraints.

I find them adorable.

I like them and as an amateur herpetologist I have an fondness for how they look. In fact, for me, on of the things I like about reptiles (and these dragons) is that they are not adorable by my definition.

I would say that this is an example of why should one segregate lore from game mechanics.

It really isn't that different - except for the ears. I do wish the could have found a cool way to keep the ears.

I actually reached out the artist who did the new dragon reference designs to try and commission him to make some custom dragons for me. One was going to be a blue with ears, but he said no (too busy).
