Goodness! Yeah. Barney Miller was a great show!Let's be honest. Those of us older than 40 or 50 now do look better and younger than our previous generations

Took me a moment to realize that there are two dogs in that picture. At first, I was thinking "that doesn't look comfortable" or "did the poor pup just jump up and face plant?"I actually looked like my profile picture for a long while, but as the years passed, my beard grew grey and now white.
Now I look like this (I'm the one on the left):

I haven't played the miniature game since the 80s. It is a time intensive and expensive hobby, which doesn't fit into my current lifestyle and I would much rather play a TTRPG than a miniature war game these days. But I'm running the 4th edition of Warhammer Fantasy Role Play. I love the game but the level of crunch isn't for everyone. The soon-to-be-released Old World is set in the same setting but earlier in time and has much more streamlined rules, using a d10 dice pool. If you love a lot of granular options for character building and crunchy combat, WFRP4e is worth checking out. If you like the setting but want a much less heavy set of rules, check out Old World. If you want a more heroic style of play with more streamlined and lighter rules, check out Soul Bound.Kids will be kids. You'd never get away with that these days without some severe penalties.
Took me a second to get it, PBR will do that, but that was funny, like Indiana Jones. Eberron is all Neo-Noir while Warhammer is I'll smash them with my Warhammer. I'm just guessing, I've never played Warhammer in my life. I turned 50 yesterday, am I missing out? I like the concept of mass combat for TTRPG once in a while, but too much time to assemble and paint nowadays. We did a campaign where an undead army wiped out 3/4 of Faerun. We started a session knowing we were going into battle and it was tense. We didnt have any rules we just made them up. Ranks of Skeleton Warriors IIRC. It was a lot of fun. That was the same campaign my buddy punched an Avatar on the nose with a nat 20. DM says you can do whatever you want for one round...he makes it rain gold over Waterdeep
Every time the subject comes up about aging in my group of friends, or how certain friends always look younger than others, one my good friends always says, "Black don't crack." (She's black, btw).My family ages pretty gracefully. Mom & Dad will make 80 next year, and strangers usually think they’re in their 60s.
People asked me what college I was going to pick after I’d been a practicing lawyer a few years. Here’s a picture of me (and some cute bitches) At age 30…27 years ago:

It wasn’t until I started having visibly thinning hair and showing some gray hairs that I mostly stopped getting carded.
All those recommendations are great. I also recommend Garblag Games.I haven't played the miniature game since the 80s. If you are in Europe, @TheSword is putting together a campaign on StartPlaying games. There are a number of other GMs running games on StartPlaying. If you are not interested in paying to play, but want to get a sense of the system, check out a Grim Podcast of Perilous Adventures which is running through The Enemy Within campaign. They take a more lighthearted, humorous approach. For a more grim playstyle, check out The Carrion Company, which is a home brew campaign. Andy Law, one of the designers also is running a live play of The Enemy Within. It is very good but I prefer podcasts, I'm not going to sit and watch hours of live play on YouTube.
