[The End of the World of Darkness] What's White Wolf got up its sleeve?

I kinda don't get it.

Why are people dreading this so?

It seems exciting to ME - a fantastic, pretty unique opportunity to resolve the titanic storythreads they've developed for over a decade. When has this happened in the history of gaming?

But then again, I'm not addicted to canon, and view it as a a no-lose situation : If what they present is good stuff, it's incredibly exciting and satisfying from a reader-of-stories aspect, whereas if it sucks, than you just ignore it and keep playing happily in WoD as you have.

It's a true sign that the Time of Judgement is at hand:

I have to agree wholeheartedly with reapersaurus. This is a no-lose situation in my opinion; it's also given me a great idea for a new modern high fantasy campaign that mixes "classic" WoD with Exalted.

So the final hardcover only covers Demon: The Fallen, Hunter: The Reckoning, Mummy: The Resurrection, Kindred of the East and Changeling: The Dreaming? Geez... Street Fighter gets no love. ;)

STREET FIGHTER GOT THE SHAFT!

I have to agree with a few commetns I saw on an RPGnet thread; I would like to see the "new" World of Darkness with a unified system(so that I can have Changelings and Garou together, not have to puzzle and puzz over Kindred using powers on my Garou players, etc.) and a different take on things(hard to explain, but I'd like to see the creatures not just be more of the same).

Ah, that makes more sense then. I didn't mean it as a put-down (and I haven't been following WoD stuff much - my WW interest has mostly been in Exalted), I was just a little surprised.

No problem a'tall. I didn't take it as a put-down.

This just proves that I have to continue expanding my D20 resume, so more people on EN World know who I am. ;)

And Vocenoctum, I decided that rather than going with the traditional nukes, I'd go with the much more intense personal horror of orbital-platform-mounted negatively charged particle beams. Fired by ninjas. :D

Couldn't see if anyone else had posted this link yet, so I thought I would. Near as I can tell it basically just rehashes what we already knew:

I'm interested in the statement that there will be no "backwards compatibility". Especially since others in the know in this thread seem to indicate that the news stuff will include WoD elements.

All I can think of is, this makes the whole 3.0/3.5 Revision look pretty mild by comparison... :p
