The Enworld background as a 3-D effect?

I just cross my eyes and let the image settle into focus, it works better up close, but not much.

That's how I do it. I cross my eyes, then slowly let them fall back to normal position, stopping when I see the image come into focus. It takes control over one's eyes, though.

I can't find anything in the clouds, though. :o

Has anyone else noticed that if you look at the screen on Enworld like you would a stereograph (those dot pictures with the hidden 3-D image), the background actually 'pops out' in a similar manner?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

You can do that with any repeating pattern. It happens when your focal point isn't at the surface of the object, but the pattern lines up anyways, tricking your brain into thinking it's perfectly focused. I got the ones der_kluge posted within seconds; I got really good at focusing beyond an object because it creeps out certain people I know (I'm looking through your head!). ;)

Hi Folks -

My first-time post here.

I took the cloud stereo image from a commercial flight while on vacation. It's actually a parallel pair, not cross-eyed. This means, you let your eyes drift apart, as if focussing on a very distant object (mountains, moon...), and let the two images merge as a whole. I have a tutorial on that at:

There is no hidden image to pop out. Alas, the distracting dark spots right of middle is dirt on the plane's window.

Thanks for the dolphin image - nice, friendly, oceanic colors.
And I'm a Star Trek fan - thanks for that image, too!

- Dale.

Whilst I can see the magic image in the second one I can't work out what it is. It looks like a hand, or something.
