The ENWorld Electric Bard Gear (Etc) Thread

I’ve seen a few reports over the past few days that G&L has gone out of business. Employees let go; doors locked. There’s an accompanying (unconfirmed) rumor that Fender is going to be buying them out.

Personally, I’m a fan of their designs and ergonomics, but I don’t own anything yet. A Z-Coil equipped G&L guitar is high on my G.A.S. list.

The Fender rumor- if true- has me conflicted. It’s possible that Fender would keep them as an operating subsidiary because they’ve done so before with Gretsch, Charvel, Jackson and others. But they have also purchased companies (like Tacoma) and quickly shuttered them.

Hell, there’s no guarantee ANYBODY in the instrument building biz wants G&L’s equipment and designs. So this could be the end of the line. (See Parker guitars.)
