The Epic Archer

The Epic Archer can shoot a blurred sprite peaking around a tree [Uncanny Accuracy] from miles away [Distant Shot], but he doesn't have the precision to do an extra 2 points of damage with Weapon Specialization at 31 feet. Because nobody is that good.

+2 damage at 31 feet? What are you mad? Do you realize what that would do to a game? Munchkin city would look like a role player's dream if anyone allowed such a thing, even at epic levels and beyond.

:D

I know, I mean its one thing for an Epic Ranger to throw a halfling skiprock at that little dot on the horizon (which just happens to be a flying Red Dragon, a favored enemy) and killing it [Death of Enemies], but the Weapon Specialization damage bonus at 31 feet? Any DM that allows that might just as well be playing Toon because that's just silly.

I was really surprised we didn't see an epic feat that extended the range of sneak attacks, specialization damage, favored enemy damage, and all that stuff that is limited to 30ft. It screams EPIC FEAT!!

I forgot about Favored Enemy damage bonuses! So the Epic Ranger can take out a Favored Enemy on the horizon in one shot but he doesn't have the "precision" to use his damage bonus at 31 feet.

What do you think, an Extended/Improved Point Blank Shot that adds a stackable 30' range to all those abilities every time you take the feat?

That sounds about right. I'd require Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Farshot, Dex 23+, BAB 21+

there isn't an epic feat to extend sneak attack range to 60'?

(or i am confusing this with some PrC ability?)

There is in Traps and Treachery, and it's a lot more powerful then you might realize. I almost did a TPK by accident with it.

assassins get a 4th level spell called Sniper's Eye that extends sneak attack range to 60'. It also makes it possible to make death attacks at 30'. It has no listed effect on other forms of precision based damage, like weapon specialization.

Also, a Ranger's favored enemy damage is limited to 30' just like sneak attack and weapon specialization, so I don't get the argument about the skip rock killing a dragon on the horrizon? Is there a feat in ELH that extandes the range of the rangers favored enemy damage bonus? Or are you just thinking of Bane of Enemies and the extra damage it does?

With Distant Shot and Death of Enemies, a Ranger could kill a dragon on the horizon with a skiprock if he rolled a critical and the dragon failed its Fort save.
