The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

Persephone

"Ah, thorns. Perhaps you could tell us more of this fey, but I think the answer must be 'no'. We really must keep moving and disable this particular redcap we seek. I have a great interest in retrieving that necklace, and don't want us injured before we meet him. Perhaps we'll pass this clearing on the way back..."

Aeric wears a small frown, glancing at Fjorn.

"A wise decision. If you entered that clearing, you would not come out alive. I for one would not wish to explain your misfortune to our Lord."

Nars follows silently, glad to have a guide, while wondering how he got himself into this mess. He thinks a few choice thoughts about family that no dwarf would ever think outloud, which he will regret thinking later. At mention of the horrible beast in the clearing, he emits a grunt and a frown matching the fey's settles on his own features. Fighting for fun, hmpf

Ishmael attempts to swallow his anxiety, but the act is futile. Furthermore, the very touch of fear brings him only shame. If I were a true Paladin, I would step there and vanquish this monstrosity

He wishes that he could battle the creature, if only to prove to himself and to his mentor that he is not afraid. But he could not bring himself to fight, not without endangering everyone around him, especially those who did not want to fight in the first place.

The halfling spares a glance at the clearing, activating his Divine Inquisition ability.

A moderate aura of evil can be detected from the clearing. Based on his training, Ishmael finds the strength of the aura unusuallly high for a fey. Only undead, demons, and clerics of evil dieties would normally produce an aura of such strength.

Gorefoot cranes his neck to look into the clearing, trying to catch a glimpse of the creature.

Fjorn moves between Gorefoot and the clearing.

"I should not have suggested it. I advise you not to get too close."

The lush forest is thick with leaves at the edge of the clearing, trees eagerly soaking up sunlight at this gap in the shaded cannopy. To look into the clearing, you will need to not only ignore the warnings of your guides but actually push aside branches.

Ishmael's heart hardened against fear when he felt the presence of evil in the area.

"There is a powerful evil inside, one that needs vanquishing. Fjorn, Aeric, after our deed is done, canst thou return myself and mayhaps my companions to this place?"

"Should you wish to die, certainly." Fjorn says. "It's a fitting fate for those who bring cold iron into our domain, though it surprises me you should choose it."
