D&D 5E (2014) The Fifth City - Episode 1: The Gathering

Clearly dismissed, Lenya took her leave of the ambassador with a bow. She took only a few moments to retrieve her gear- while it might feel odd to be wandering the city with weapons, her earlier experience made her inclined towards proper preparation. It took a bit longer for her to inquire amongst the other elves in the embassy, but one of them knew where the humans imprisoned their tame mages.

It took far longer to navigate through the unfamiliar city... By the time she arrived outside what she hoped was the right building, Lenya had almost reconsidered the idea of seeking these people out. Now that she was there, though, she stepped forward to knock against the door...

The front door of the Corps building was enchanted with a minor effect that allowed a knock on the main door to be heard everywhere in the building, though it was no louder than a regular knock.

Adail goes to the door, a couple of rooms away from the dining room.

Lenya is greeted by older human man, obviously the human's equivalent of a worker caste caretaker of the facility. With a raised eyebrow, he says, "Good evening. What may do for you, sir elf?"

Lenya bowed slightly, her hands clasped in front of her. "I am Lenya, of the Anla... Of the Elven ambassador's household. I have been told that this place is the dwelling of the human Corps of Mages. If this is correct, I would seek audience with some of those mages- to speak with them about some assistance that I was given earlier today." Her voice was calm and quiet, only a bit unused to the cadences of the Common tongue.

Adail nods, "I shall fetch them directly."

Adail returns to the dining room, "Pardon the interruption, but there is an elf here to see you. Something to do with an incident from this morning?"

"We are in the process of gathering information as we speak. We checked out the city records before we got back to see if there are any underground methods of attack.More eyes and ears might just be prudent."

"As I said, we are more than happy to help figure out this mystery. I feel a certain obligation to figure things out. I am uncertain as to why this information was given to me, there must be a reason..."

Adail nods, "I shall fetch them directly."

Adail returns to the dining room, "Pardon the interruption, but there is an elf here to see you. Something to do with an incident from this morning?"

Happy to be saved, Amisi hops up. "Markus, you rest. I will see to the door. It might be the lady from this morning who hurried off, though I am not sure what further business we might have." She strolls to the door and opens it wide herself. "And I would be right! Hello again Miss, how might I help you? Not starting any more fights are we?" she chuckles.

"Adail!" Calls Markus. Once the manservant arrives he he gives his order, "if the lady elf enters and joins us, please bring us some fresh fruit and crisp vegetables . . . . ."

ooc: skill: investigation - not sure if that applies, so adjust accordingly. Shrug.

"I am sorry to impose on you so late in the day.Your service is greatly appreciated. And do make sure you are eating well. You never know when you may need strength." With that he starts eating food, himself.

Lenya bowed again, deeper than she had for the one who first answered the door. Her voice was still quiet, but steady, despite her lack of famiiarity with Common speech. "No, not starting more fights. Perhaps, in truth, trying to STOP fights, especially those of no real purpose." She paused for a moment, and perhaps for the first time, raised her eyes enough to meet Amisi's gaze directly, if only for a moment. "I do not remember if we were introduced aboard the ship, but I am Lenya." Once again, most oddly for an elf, she made no claim of Clan or Fane. "I have been assigned to the staff of the Elven ambassador to this city, but I find myself very unfamiliar with such a settlement, and with the ways and customs of those who are not of my own people. The ambassador believes that I would be more useful if this particular deficiency could be corrected, and she has suggested that I seek out those few folk with whom I share a connection, no matter how brief. And so I have come to ask if I might, perhaps, spend some time in the company of your folk, that I might learn a bit of your ways- in hopes of forestalling even a few altercations such as the one we found earlier. Or perhaps even more serious disagreements." She bowed again, deeper still. "If this would be too much imposition upon your duties, might I ask if your friends among the constabulary might have some suggestion about where else I might seek guidance without, as they say, stirring up more trouble?"

Felix sighs audibly. "Any information you can find will be appreciated. I do not have enough information as yet to ask that you do anything specific, but if that changes I will call upon and I ask that you pass on any new information you uncover to Marcus and myself." He smiles an raises a glass. "Since the ambassador is not arriving tonight I think some of that relaxation you are looking for is in order."

Upon Lenya's entry Felix rises and returns the bow. "Thank you for your candor. I am sorry to say that there are those in The City who still hold onto old hates and grudges. I will be happy to assist you in any way I can as a member of the constabulary."

Korgon listens to Lenya as she speaks. He leans over to Amisi and whispers "That's a lot o' big words to say not a lot"

Then he walks over to Lenya hand outstretched. "Well welcome Lenya. Yeah we can help you break the stick ya got up your backside. I been here a while, you just gotta learn to accept other folks weirdness. 'Cuz we are all weird to each other. So come on in, have a seat and a drink. Then loosen up! Look the Fifth city ain't an elf city, or a dragonborn" he says with a nod to Rhal.

"This place belongs to no one and everyone. So nobody gets to say what is right or wrong, we all kind of figure it out as we go. Look, it is just like the crew on a ship. Everybody has their own way o' doing things, and as long as everything gets done great, but it takes 4 men to bring down a mainsail, and they gotta do it together. No one man gets to say how it gets done, they figure out how to do it together. Because if they don't, the ship goes down. So, pull up a chair, sit and be a part of this odd crew we have here."
