D&D 5E The Fifth City - Episode 1: The Gathering

Dr Simon

Explorer
OOC: If it messes up continuity I'm happy for this to be an NPC guard rather than Felix.

"Oh, yes, of course," says the tiefling, somewhat flustered. "I'm, er, I'm his new assistant. Veer Kotto. Wait, I, er, I've got my papers here somewhere." He begins delving around in his pack.

Felix responds to Garus in a deferential tone. "Certainly sir. What ship and port? Do you have reason to expect trouble?"

"The Fifth City was supposed to be a place of enlightened diplomacy, but the folk her seem to be less and less subtle with time. I can't keep up. When it comes my turn to proposition you please let me know. In the meantime duty calls. Would you care to join me on a stroll down to the docks and out into the Blue District? Lord Clairon's fiance needs an escort."
He looks to both Korgon and then Amisi as he says this. "I expect I can talk Markus and perhaps some of our other new friends into going along." He looks about and catches Markus' eye and motions him over.

"Sure, a stroll would do well right now." replies Korgon

When Felix and Markus are out of earshot of anyone he asks, "What do you have?"

His stance is relaxed, but he seems to be keeping an eye out.

OOC: pathfinderq1, I'm going to write Lenya out for now. You'll be able to jump back in any time. All, I'm going to assume that everyone is going with Felix to the Blue District docks.

Garrus laughs at Amisi's comment about the Dragonborn ambassador, "G'Kar has a...thing...for what he calls softscaled women. I'd be careful if I were you." He winks at her before nodding to Felix and departing. Lenya retires for the evening, heading back to the elven ambassadorial enclave.

Sakai replies to Castagyr, "Sure, if I can pry myself away from whatever poor guard my fiance had Garrus assign to me. I swear the man thinks I'm as fragile as this flower." She holds up a case designed to protect specimens, with a glass cover, inside which is a rather mundane looking flower, "This is one of the last of its kind, a Goblin's Kiss. Not much to look at but its petals are so poisonous that the goblins killed as many of their own troops trying to process it as they did their enemies when they used it on their weapons. My team and I searched the ruins of the goblins' island for 5 months to find this thing."

Felix, Markus, Korgon, and Amisi arrive at the Blue District docks to see an exceedingly awkward looking tiefling fumbling through some papers while a bemused but patient guard waits for him. Nearby, Lord Clarion's fiance is chatting with a dragonborn.

Felix Reeve steps up, but hesitates not sure if he should address Lord Clarion's fiance, the guard or the Tiefling. He steps forward finally and pauses to see if anyone will notice him.

Amisi replies after Garrus has left. "Softscales? I have no scales to speak of thank you very much and I will have that go on record! Hhrump!" She grumpily exits the bar, the amount of insults she's had this evening weighing on her mind. However, the smile slowly returns to her face as they walk and she catches a whiff of the salty air. "It's just so nice to be able to walk anywhere you want, anytime you want..." she says to no one in particular.

Amisi stood back while Felix stepped forward, obviously to help sort out whatever mess was happening with paperwork. Yuck. Amisi instead approaches the woman speaking to the dragonborn. "Excuse me my lady, but are you Lord Clarion's fiance? If so, we," she waves an arm at their little group, "Are here to escort you wherever you need to go."

The woman offers a lopsided and somewhat sarcastic grin, "Oh, his lordship sent an entire battalion this time? My goodness, aren't I special." She shakes her head in amusement and comments to the dragonborn next to her, "What did I tell you?"

"Oh, No. We are no where near a battalion. That would be several hundred solders and consists of several companies, which in turn are made of platoons then squads. We, at best, are a squad. That is the best way for the safety needed - stealth, you know." Markus shows no humor in his informational correction.

Yes, he seemed to have missed the sarcasm. Or maybe ignored it.

Before the escort arrived, Castagyr had replied, "Indeed. I have found you more than capable. I wonder if just considers you as valuable at that flower and would not take unnecessary risks."

The golden scaled dragonborn warrior watched as the group, escort presumably as they identified themselves, stood before them. He wore chainmail and carried a greatsword sheathed over his shoulders. He was tall and muscular looking, with powerful looking arms and legs. As he towered over the strawberry blond woman, Amisi could see his eyes were blue and, despite his fearsome looking dragon visage, there was a peaceful looking expression about it.

The man who spoke next was hardly imposing either without the look of a warrior.

Castagyr commented to Sakai with amusement, "I think it is more like the battalion's clerks than the soldiers, milady."
