The First Rule Of Gencon Is:

Actualloy, at least as important - wash your hands at EVERY OPPORTUNITY.

A lot of cross-contamination occurs at a Con, involving viral and bacteriological contamination from across the country and even around the world. You will be shaking hands with these people, touching books they have touched and so on. About a quarter of GenCon attendees I know have come away from GenCon with a major cold, fever or flu. By washing your hands regularly (and properly - not just a few seconds of hot water, but at least a 20 to 40 second wash with soap), you seriously reduce the risk to yourself and to the others you may be contaminating.

i wear my PAPR with multiple battery pack and replace my HEPA filters every 6 hours while i'm there. ;)

seriously, for all those concerned about possible health risks while visiting a Convention...not just Gen Con... goto www.cdc.gov and use the search function on the site. :D

No, no, no. What happens at GENCON must leave GENCON. It's your responsibility to tell EVERYONE you know what happened in every adventure you played in, the full details of all the one-shot characters you played, and the people and contents of every dealer booth.

Oh, I thought the first rule of GENCON was:

"What happens in GENCON stays in GENCON"

sorry, that is Mexico or is that Las Vegas. :D

So, gaming at Gen Con stays at Gen COn? Its a gaming con? What else is going to happen??

As long as Diaglo posts pictures of his GENCON luggage again, they can have it in Timbuktu for all I care. :D

Edit: Oops - thought I was still in the Why No GENCON East thread...

Having caught a flu last year, I certainly understand. (Thanks, Buttercup!)

May have to take some hand sanitizer with me.

And ignore that raw sewage smell. It's just the natural result of our mayor's approach to infrastructure. (Everything for new stadiums, nothing for roads or sewers.)

Whats really sad is people have to be reminded to do this basic personal care stuff.

True.

I've also seen this rule at Animazement (an anime con in Raleigh). It's sad when the fan base stinks so bad that cons HAVE to put this rule in their programs! UGH!

The (Real) First Rule of GenCon

You will always run into somebody willing at no provocation at all to render unto you an excessively tedious recounting of his GenCon experience. Then he'll tell you about his second hour.

Is it really that BAD?

I've never been to a con in my life. I've met some pretty stinky people, ranging from those on public transportation to a Greyhound bus station, none of which were as bad as some of the stories I've heard. Are Gen Con gamers that unclean they need a primer on showering/clothes washing?
