Sure, at low levels, who cares?...except at higher levels, when somebody can snatch away 200k gp of your personal property, that 10k gp (or 20k for two, or 40k for building two into another set of gloves) suddenly becomes a worthwhile investment.
I try and get my character's gloves enchanted with the Storing property in every game, just because it's so darn useful for that. When we hit epic levels in our Birthright game, and I was carrying around my 4.5M gp sword, I did everything I could to make sure that was safe from sundering or disarming.
Fair enough. And if I am ever so lucky to reach epic levels (or even very high levels) I can see the cost being minor in exchange for the added security. But from 1-13th (the highest I've gotten in a long-term campaign as opposed to one-shots) I've never seen anyone buy the
Glove of Storing for that purpose. Instead, a fellow partymate picked one up to, as Thanee mentions, switch from her bow to her rapier. At 2000gp, it was a worthwhile investment for that. At 10,000gp, my guess is she never would have even considered it.
Likewise, I can see a fighter picking up Quickdraw just to switch between weapons, but I can't imagine any other class that doesn't get bonus feats doing so. Feats are too precious.
In any case, I'm not trying to convince folk that the
glove of storing is overpriced, including my DM. I'm willing to accept that--for better or worse--it's now 10,000gp. And for me, that's far too expensive to even consider purchasing (for my intended purpose) for a long, long time.
Thanks everyone for the clarifications, though. It looks like it would have worked nicely for the purpose I intended, if it weren't for it's new price tag.
