I like the idea of courgettes. I'd go for zucchinis, but the rest of the garden wouldn't understand their accent and they'd feel left out

Ugh. Not zuchinis. You plant zuchinis and your kitchen will be filled to the rafters with the things. I'd recommend hot peppers, myself, but I like spiciness in my food. Right now is about the perfect time to plant peppers in any case.

Easy as can be Aeolius. Pickles are not hard to make at all. Especially if you just slice em.

I've planted rocket. They make the best BLTs.

I just hope some of them will be alive tomorrow. Mind you, looks like the start of heatwave, so maybe the surviving slugs'll stay hidden.
