Well, if you like the class, it's up to you to use it at your convenience. HOWEVER, I think the Iron Guard class really doesn't work with the Gnoll race. As I describe this class, the Iron Guards come from militaristic ordered societies, mainly LN and LE kingdoms and empires. Gnolls are normally chaotic evil, plus they are unruly wild beasts driven by aggressive urges and instincts, and only belong to small primitive tribes (or should I say prides) that cannot afford to devellop the kind of organization that create Iron Guards. For me, this class is primarily for hobgoblins and humans, and other humanoid or monstrous races with a significant level of militaristic civilization, and a serious bent toward lawfulness.

Do you mind if I take your concept (do you see it as OGC?), add in some of the suggestions given here, then do a (very similar) class of my own with it, and publish it in some netbook or d20 commercial PDF? (I am working on a goblinoid netbook, and thought that maybe this concept would fit well with a hobgoblin militaristic society).

You can do whatever floats your boat. It's not as if this class was difficult to come up with, although I do prefer my version better.

Seriously, though...I think the changes you have added make the class better than a single-classed fighter. Fine for a campaign world, not good as a core class. Just IMHO, of course.

But yes, I did that class for a campaign world (i.e.: an empire of hobgoblins), and made it clear it is preferably for npcs. The special abilities work only when the character is defending a place, person, etc., not a fellow adventurer or the treasure he just looted an hour ago. However, I could have been clearer on this. Normally, an Iron Guard who goes on adventuring has no special abilities at all. Despite even in this case, he has got 4 skill points per level, yet he doesn't have anymore DR as barbarian.

For me the Iron Guard is geared against PCs
