The Hunted (DM: IronSky, Judge: ???)

The Hunted: Day 1, Hour 3, Minute 24

There is a flurry of activity, Devinihm furling the sails to help direct the ship back to the dock, Mab, slicing the rudder to force the ship to turn, and Earth spotting the single mooring line that's still intact.

Rysethynn takes the opportunity to leap towards the shore, but a the last minute, noticing the rapidly widening gap between ship and shore, stands windmilling at the railing before stabilizing herself.

Illarion summons a blast of magic that serves mostly to tear the sails, Raijin drops the one line that Earth spotted, and Xander tosses a rope to Sergeant Rump - that falls short and lands in the water.

The ship is slowly drifting out to sea on the tide and will soon be in the open waters of the harbor proper...

GM: Round Summary:
Devinihm: B, Nature 21 vs DC 18, success. B at 1/4 successes.
Auntie Mab: B, Thievery 22 vs DC 18, success. B at 2/4 successes.

GM: All seven of you gone for the whole weekend?

Don't forget you can make assist checks if you don't want to be the one to make "the big check". Assist DC = 10 + 1/2 your level. Success adds +2 to the next person's skill check (not assist), failure is -1.

I'll run the next round tomorrow night if the skill challenge isn't over by then.

OOC: Sorry. For my part, I was unexpectedly busy this weekend and didn't really have much in the way of time to check on things.

Since I believe we've secured the boat with VV's roll, I will wait to post anything else for Rysethynn until the skill challenge wrap-up. She's a bit panicky on the water and I'm thinking things will flow better if I know how you wrap it up before saying anything.

As Earth single-handedly pulls the boat back to the moorings with that last line, the city guard struggle with the crowds shouting and pointing at the ship. As the group climbs off the ship and quickly re-ties the ship, sleek black forms with glowing yellow eyes shoot up out of the water and bite the lines in half.

As the party members step back and draw weapons, the ship is rapidly swept out into the harbor. The crowd shouts and begins to disperse, running down the harbor road and pointing at the drifting ship. The group barely notices, however, as lumbering black shapes pull themselves out of the water with long bladed talons and sleeker, glistening forms with jagged teeth and glowing eyes churn the water below.

GM: Skill challenge success!

I'll put the combat map up later, tonight or tomorrow sometime, depending on how much time it takes me to get everything set up. If you want to roll initiative for yourself, you can do that now. If you haven't uploaded your CB file or a (working) link to your wikia page, that would be useful so I can enter you all into Masterplan. Also, if you haven't uploaded a character portrait, now is the time, or I'll pick one for you.

Devinihm, widen druid

"The color on these is wrong, yes?" the wilden says, cocking his head as he readies his staff. "We want grey fur?"

Earth knew that was his opponent, that that malignant and depraved creature was an offence to nature and what he thought sacred and untainted. He has to crush it under the weigh of the earth, to utterly destroy it and offer it's remains to the skies. Earth outstretched his arm, producing a rock hammer out of it, and then raised his shield. He appears like a guardian statue, carved from the very rock.

Rysethynn was shaken by the whole boat experience. She felt much better with her feet back on solid ground, but she still looked visibly shaken. Then the creatures started to rise out of the water and she looked positively frightened.

At Devinihm's words, she nodded. Then she readied her hammer and shield to defend herself. You could see all the fear fade from her face as she shoved it away into it's little compartment in her mind, preparing for battle.

Round 0

Seeing the creatures arrive, the city guardsmen and what's left of the crowd run off into the city screaming and shouting. Mab is the only one jaded enough to not be caught flat-footed by the creatures.

[sblock=Devinihm]These creatures aren't natural...[/sblock]

[sblock=Krav]The dragonborn seems to have not made it off the ship...[/sblock]

[sblock=Terrain]The light blue water is the shallows, it is 3 squares deep and requires a DC 10 Athletics check to swim. The darker blue water is affected by the tide. It requires DC 13 Athletics checks to swim and any creature without a swim speed that ends its turn in it is slid 2 squares south.

The docks are all 2 squares wide, even when they don't look like they are.[/sblock]

[sblock=Light - IMPORTANT]There's a lantern on the crate at H23 that shines bright 5 in all directions. One of you has the lantern that Sergeant Rump gave you, whoever speaks first has it, otherwise it's on the dock at M13. That lantern also shines bright 5. Everything else is dim lighting.[/sblock]
