The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

[sblock=ooc]Me and Brenwar would be the diplomats and he said he was the quiet type so I'll give it a go[/sblock]

"My name is Shayla Brightleaf!" she begins trying to carry her voice to any other guards the first might have alerted. "My friends and I are here at the request of the Magus Lao Teshlyn on behalf of the Shogun himself. May we come in and speak more of these matters?"

[sblock=Diplomacy]Let me know if I'm gonna need a diplomacy roll, otherwise I'll just RP it[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] RP will be fine[/sblock]

We haven't had contact with the Iron Legion in over a month! How do I know you are who you say you are and not another shadow worship.. HUrk!

The soldiers voice cuts off midsentence, choked off by what you can only assume was a swift blow to the stomach.

Prove that you come from the legion and we will allow you entry, otherwise remove yourselves from the area immediately.

Shayla reaches into her pack and pulls forth the scroll that the magus had given their group and holding it in the air so they might see that it bears a seal upon it. "I have a sealed letter from the Magus meant for the eyes of the town lords. Please allow us entry so we might determine how best to aid your fair town from the trouble it currently faces."

There is some shuffling up on the wall, you notice at least 4 guards along the length of the palisade. Suddenly a small man down opens in the wall and a dragonborn in plate mail much like that of the legion soldiers you met earlier steps out.

Papers. He demands flatly.

"Try anything funny tin man and I'm MOST assured the Platinum Shogun with have your dragonic hide hanging over his mantle" the warlock uttered..... he was not one to mince words and those who conversed with him the the Tavern before they were whisked away on this mission would know this.... It seemed he showed no fear either which was a boon and a curse the Patronis all in one... For some reason the warlock was on edge.. something didn't feel right here... something he felt was going to go terribly wrong....

Cheysuli Sage

Sensing Patronis' unease, Chey shrugs off the relaxed aura that had partially returned over the last three hours, and once again focuses her attention on being wary.

While others are focused on the legionaire, she studies the towns wall and the surrounding countryside for anything out of place, or worthy of note. Her concentration lingers for a moment on the few figures visible on the wall as she tries to guage their mood.

[sblock=Knowledge Checks]In case Cheysuli knows anything useful about Shadraxil:

Arcana 1d20+8=20, Dungeoneering 1d20+1=5, History 1d20+3=5, Nature 1d20+2=22, Religion 1d20+3=5[/sblock]

[sblock=Cheysuli] You can tell that while the guards seem greatly on edge, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with you specifically. The only thing you know about Shadraxil is that the word itself is similar in structure to some arcane phrases dealing with shadows/necromancy and that those phrases have roots in draconic.[/sblock]

The shogun would be even more displeased were we derelict in our duties. Now if you have papers as you claim, present them.

Not a hint of sarcasm creeps into the dragonborns voice. What he has said is fact, and he is well aware of it.

[sblock=ooc]sorry, thought I hit submit[/sblock]

Shayla holds the scroll out for the guards investigation allowing him to take them and study them smiling pleasantly at the decidedly unpleasant tone of the conversation. After several seconds of scrutiny of the letters she adds offhandedly. "There were kobolds attacking travelers along the road on our way here, we dispatched a group of them" Pointing at the shadowscale shield one of the members of the group carries.

Briskly breaking the seal, the dragonforged opens the documents and looks them over. After several moments he barks something in a tongue that sounds very similar to what the kobolds spoke, and the gates swing open.

Inside you can find loding in the first home on the left. It has recently become vacant. Someone will be around first thing in the morning to bring you before the lord. Until then rest, and know that we thank you for your help with the kobolds. Let us hope you have not made things worse.

With that he turns sharply on his heel, and heads inside the gate and up a steep staircase to the wall.

Cheysuli Sage

As the brusk dragonborn marches off, Cheysuli complains to her fellows in a low voice; "Well, they certainly are a cheery bunch around here are they not!? Make things worse indeed! I suppose if we had laid down our weapons and thrown ourselves bodily onto the kobolds swords it would have benefited the town greatly... Hmmphf!"

[sblock=OOC] Anyone with a decent History or religon should give a knowledge check a go, I feel there is more we could know at this point.[/sblock]
