The Jade Frontier (DM: Ukingsken, Judge: Lord Sessadore)

I think Chey's question still remains - do we try my idea of drawing out the fake spy with the existence of a false missive, or should Firete and I hit the tavern and try to inflitrate the cult or discover the spy in some other fashion? My vote is for the former, as I'm not sure how well I could be convincing as an actor. In addition, I think the spy would be terrified of being unmasked, and as such make a rash decision - to our advantage - if he knew he was going to.

So one of the rest of you - Miranna, Chey or Brenwar - decide what works best. In any case, if our ruse doesn't work, we should attempt to storm the keep.

[sblock=OOC]We still need to make a decision I think. In either case, I don't think we have some spectacular method to communicate once we've split the party. We'll just have to plan on a rendevous point (the house) and hope for the best.[/sblock]
"I think you misunderstand me a little, I think both are ideas worth going with, I would suggest that yourself and Firete do your thing, and we attempt to oust the spy through the invention of this damning missive. I am happy to help pay toward your separate lodgings, as without this plan you would lodge for free in the same house as us. You should not arrive at the town with us either, so we should split up once our plans are firm. As for how we exchange information; we should come up with a code that lets the other group know that we need to speak... like I could wear my hair down about town, or you could wear a feather in your hat Yishim... Then meet at an arranged place during the night. The house we are staying in is probably being watched by this spy so I would not suggest it as the setting for our rendezvous."

"If we get the rumour of the coded letter about the town, the spy may start looking for some people to help him sort out the menace (us!). If you go about yourselves the right way you may be able to get yourselves hired as bodyguard or somesuch. You should try to make it plain that you have low morals, and would work any job for whomever paid... Yes, if we can pull this off we can trap this spy from both sides!"
"The creature's name was Zal' Ekthees, though I never did hear of its exact nature. When I overheard the conversation it was said a group of paladin's loyal to Palladys helped bind a great evil to the area of the keep long ago. The keep was then built on top of the site to reinforce the divine and arcane magic that made up the seal. This bound the evil entity and plugged the planar gate that it was using. However this was long ago and over time I fear the magic may become weakened letting this creature influence this area once again. The night after we learned of this horrible nightmares of shadows and blood were visited on me. It could have been a coincidence but I somehow doubt it."
"Zal'Ekthees is the demon no? I was sure there was a dragon involved somewhere; 'Shadrak's ill' or something?
In any event, the keep will be our final destination I am sure, but I think we should worry about rooting out the nasties in the town before we head on out to the ruins; we do not want to have enemies behind us.

An excellent plan! Let's do it! Firete, I think the two of us can travel faster than Chey, Miranna and Brenwar can - should we circle around the town and approach from the other side? If the spy recruits us then we'll meet you soon enough in any case.

You're right - there's no easy way to communicate other than to signal - say if either of you ladies wear your hair down we need to rendezvous immediately, otherwise to continue merrily on our way. With that decided, shall we be on our way?

One last matter before we seperate, we still need to settle on a meeting place that would be unobtrustive. Is there not a temple or chapel in the town? Would it be possible to meet there? It would not be out of the ordinary for us to meet there, we could speak unobserved and we are very unlikely to be attacked there.

[sblock=OOC]Yay! We need to get this show on the road, it's been too many days of arranging matters[/sblock]

Yes, the temple should work perfectly. Let's be off, Firete. Yishim and Firete take off at a breakneck pace, leaving Miranna, Brenwar, and Chey to struggle with the Emissary and Wyrmpriest's body now that the disc has been dispelled.

With the assistance of the Floating Disk now lost, Miranna spent a few minutes selecting and hacking down a small tree, so that they could rig a carrying pole to haul the Emissary's body. That time would also allow Yishim and Firete a few extra minutes travel time, so the groups would arrive farther apart...

OOC: Ready to head back to town

Not so fast! I can't run as quick as you in this armour, Firete says as she lags behind Yishim as he runs. We need to get our story straight before we arrive though, and I suggest sticking as close to the truth as we are able as there will be far less to remember. Perhaps we're travellers trying to learn more about the kobold attacks.

[sblock=TwoHeads]How far is the town and is there more than one way in getting in there, or do you need me to make a skill check?[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Coming around from the South West will involve cutting through the forest, you realise? Okay, let's do this, given our current rate of movement 3.5 miles per hour, we'll be there in a little under thirty minutes, not that that sort of time existed back then. For the record, I hate using miles![/sblock]

Once out of sight of the party, Yishim and Firete leave the main road and continue south. keeping a line of trees between them and the road. It wasn't long before the town was in sight, yet they kept on until the arrived at the south west fork of the road on the other side of the town.

[sblock=TwoHeads]I'll edit this if there's something you particularly want us to find when we're off the main road. Otherwise....[/sblock]

They stop still within the trees on the south west side of Maoleth. Firete turns to Yishim.
So, have we settled what we're going to say, yet? We need to get this straight before we enter and anyone asks questions.

I'll be honest - I think your tongue is quicker than mine, and it'd be better if you did most of the talking. I'll stay the weak, silent type.
OOC: Let's do this thing.
