The Kobold's Captive (ozymandias79 judging)

[sblock="OOC for Trevor"]
It's a summoning circle, a focus for a ritual to open a portal to the shadowfell. It appears at though the ritual was incomplete when the shadows came through.

The staff is a staff of winter.
Staff of Winter +1
This staff is engraved with winter symbols and is cold to the touch. It adds to the effect of your cold spells.
Level: 4
Price: 840 gp
Implement (Staff)
Enhancement: +1 attack rolls and damage rolls
Critical: +1d6 cold damage
Power (Daily): Free Action. Use this power when using a power that has the cold keyword. After you resolve the power, all enemies within 3 squares of you are immobilized (save ends).

Please discuss with Cross on who would get the most benefit.

[sblock=OOC]Well, I'm willing to take one for the team here... and carry the staff, since it looks like I'd get us the most "benefit" from using it. If we decide to sell it and split the loot at the end of the adventure that works for me. It's up to everyone else...[/sblock]

Vixo points out the strange symbol sewn into the cloak to the others, hoping they know more.

[sblock=ooc about staff]I'd like to see the staff go to the full-time wizard[/sblock]

Trevor take the staff and throw it at Cross. "I hope you have some good cold spell. I wonder where is its old owner." He then look at the circle. "He seems to have summoned the creature we have fought. So your guess might be wrong, Hadrak. The kobold might never had met these shadows. They have been summoned straight form the Shadowfell"

Cross catches the staff in midair, and is taken aback by the feeling of cold that suffuses his grip... staring in wonder at the steam rising where his flesh presses against the cool wood of the staff. He passes a finger over the symbols carved in the staff's surface, feeling their strength. Could this power be mine to call?

After a moment, he binds his charred staff to his pack, and turns his attention to the strange symbol sewn into the cloak...

[sblock]Cross doesn't have a single cold spell... It's just an extremely overpriced +1 staff for him.

Sure, we give it to the wizard for the time being but unless the adventure is very loot friendly and everyone has toys, I vote we sell the staff at the end of the adventure...

[sblock=OOC]I'm fine with whatever the group decides to do with the staff in the end[/sblock]

[sblock="OOC to all"]

Slakisss' religion check reveals the symbol is that of an obscure cult of Vulkar. Very little is known of the cult but are associated with planar portals.

(This little encounter, was intended as a teaser to another adventure I'll run someday. So best to think of it as bonus XP )

I hope the staff doesn't cause a fight between ya'll, there are more toys.

Skalisss points out some symbols on the cloak: "Thessse are the marks of Vulkar, a sssmall and little known cult assssociated with planar portalsss. Perhapsss this fool got more than he bargined for?"
