The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

5/10 - It was okay, but I felt it should have concentrated more on the over-all conflict than with her story. The animation was sloppy and rushed because of WB's need to get this out of the door before the end of the year, and honestly I was not expecting or wanting an anime style for this ( I tend not to watch most trailers because they can be hugely spoiler-y).
The trend towards trailers that spoil the show is really silly, 100% agree that it detracts from the whole reason of having a trailer, producers please stop doing this I'm begging you.

While I agree I'd rather not have spoilers, the aim of a trailer is to get people to watch the show. Trailers are typically handled by promoters not the producers, so whether the show is spoilt or not seems irrelevant.

It takes skill/time to provide a trailer the both shows no spoilers but gives a good indication what the show is about. Something most promoters don't seem to have but should aim for.

I mean, that's the job, no? To have the skill and time. Otherwise, why not just get your dog to do it? One pays people because they have the skill and the time.
You would think so. I probably should have said the focus to not spoil isn't there.

Well, the story is all there in Tolkien. The question is how the movie would portray Helm and his killing of Wulf’s father Freca*, and how justified Wulf was (probably very, murder isn’t OK even if you’re king), and of course how Hera would be portrayed and whether she and Wulf would have genuine tragic chemistry at any point.

*In the original text, Helm takes (reasonably) great offence at Freca demanding Hera’s hand in marriage for his son Wulf, and kills him with a single punch, which may have been an accident. He then makes things much worse by exiling Wulf and declaring him an enemy of the kingdom. Wulf raises an army of rebels, including Dunlendings; Helm, Wulf, and both of Helm’s sons die in the ensuing war. Helm is not portrayed as in the right, but a tragic figure and the main reason his family line no longer rules Rohan.

I almost went to see this film. I was travelling and had time, there was a movie theater...and so...I was going to go to a movie.

Then I find that they do not accept anything but credit cards. That's an automatic no go for me. I had cash in the relevant currency, and may still use a cc, but if that's the ONLY option...well...they won't miss my money.

Too bad. It could have killed a few hours and been interesting. Only theater I had been near that was showing it as well.

I can't even remember the last time I used cash. I don't miss it. These days all I have to carry is my phone and my keys (and I'd love it if my car key was a digital one on my phone).
