I liked it; 7/10 overall.

I'm not much of an anime fan in general. The animation felt a bit choppy at first but eventually fell away and I forgot I was watching an animated film. If there were anime tropes, I didn't notice them.

I though the characters needed a little more introduction, and it did drag slightly in the second act, but otherwise it moved along well and I liked the character portrayals.

Using Hera as the main/POV character works well, and the story is largely consistent with what little Tolkien wrote about the story.

I did find the very end bit
abut Hera going to visit Gandalf
to be over the top but otherwise I was fine with linkages and hints toward its fit in the larger Middle Earth history.

The music and sound design were great, ad the voice acting outstanding.

As a guy who is reading through a lot of Middle Earth RPG content, I found it helpful to see a story set in Tolkien's
world that wasn't heavily dependent on the Lord of the Rings arc.
Gave me some good ideas.

Anybody get the mug or warhammer popcorn bucket?

I have so much cheap plastic crap as it is . . . but I would love to pick these up! Pretty sure my local theatres aren't participating, and/or will run out before I make it to the theater.

I liked it. It was solid, if not phenomenal. The only thing that felt off was
Helm going beast mode on the ice trolll
.

I saw it yesterday. Was fun. I enjoyed the main character. I liked the story overall. I liked the animation, really liked the backdrops/scenery. I need Middle Earth to look epic and it did.

My inner Middle Earth nerd was bit "harrumph" about the bad guy getting mumakil riding mercs. But the movie took a moment to explain the how, so I'm not really complaining.

Agree there's some pacing issues. Nothing serious though.

I felt Helm's realisation of Hera's capability was kind of unearned. NOT that Hera didn't do heroic things. She did. But Helm, who as far as we saw hadn't seen or been told about Hera's heroics and good sense, suddenly acted as if he had. But again, not a major gripe.

7/10.

5/10 - It was okay, but I felt it should have concentrated more on the over-all conflict than with her story. The animation was sloppy and rushed because of WB's need to get this out of the door before the end of the year, and honestly I was not expecting or wanting an anime style for this ( I tend not to watch most trailers because they can be hugely spoiler-y).
