Bit of a tangent, and I hope I don't derail the thread.

I subscribed to disney + for this and obviously there is other stuff om their, I've never seen any of the star wars animated stuff, can anyone recommend which ones I watch and in in what order? (assuming its on disney+)

Start with season one of The Clone Wars, then Rebels.

They're linked. There's Resistance only lasted 2 seasons doesn't have the best reputation.

There's some other random stuff but those two are the main ones.

Yeah, as Zardnaar said, first Clone Wars then Rebels. I also suggest checking out the Lego Star Wars Freemaker Adventures. It is silly, it is made for preschool aged kids and besides those, it is propably the best bit of story telling in all Star Wars media.

I agree with watching Clone Wars and Rebels. Note that unlike the movies, Clone Wars might be enjoyed better in chronological order rather than the airdate order. See here: Star Wars: The Clone Wars Chronological Episode Order | StarWars.com

Yes, and while the silliness of the show is not canon, the background and basic stories are. And obviously, a lot of canon characters show up on it too.

Rebels is a great show. Rumor is that the Mando girl, Sabine Wren, may show up this season. Plus the ship they fly around in on Rebels was present in Rogue One and in one of the sequel trilogy movies.

Harder to spot but the Weequay bartender was also the same actor who played the bartender in Deadwood, in which Timothy was a Sherriff.

And where on earth did the Mando learn to speak/sign Tusken?

I think he did that some in season one, the previous time they were on Tatooine. In the new episode, he said he spent a lot of time on Tatooine, so plenty of time to learn.

The Mandalorian's used quite a few minor details from the show too, like the Imperial troop transport that shows up in the penultimate episode of season 1.

If Sabine does show up, I wonder if she'll do the whole never-remove-the-helmet thing. That seems to be relatively recent, from after their world was sacked, and while they do agree on some basic principles, the Mandalorians aren't a monolithic culture.

They probably get along well together - both warrior cultures who never show their faces.

One thing I meant to mention was how much I liked the way the captured Tattooine's "salvage chic" aesthetic, everything looking not only used but clearly reconditioned and in many cases cobbled together. The Marshal's speeder bike was a particular stand-out, a seat welded to an old Pod Racer engine.

I've noticed this a lot more on rewatch. Season one is easily binged in 1-2 nights.

It's just small attention to detail. Scruffy looking storm troopers but Moff Gideon's ones are all nice looking.

It's Filoni I think. His fingerprints are all over it espicially if you've seen Clone Wars and Rebels.

She may not keep it on. Different Mandalorian sect and all that.

And that engine is from Anakin's old pod racer, according to an article on the easter eggs in the episode.

There was an episode on Tatooine last season where he interacted with the Sand People. I imagine he had some dealings with them before in tracking people looking to hide out. The wastes of Tatooine might be a place his previous targets might have tried to hide out. A friend and I were discussing that Mandalorians in general might see kindred spirits in the Sand People.
