Sorry if I didn't read this right... but did I understand you correctly when you said we needed more info on the technological and medical advancements?

I mean that I have no documents about the level of medical science and technological science overall for when TMP is set. What we could probably do with is something that says how far we have got, examples of common and more exclusive alterations/equiptment etc.

For example, in the real world plastic surgery is coming down in price and minor alterations to the body are becoming more common. A stomach staple is an expensive way of cheating to lose wieght but no longer only affordable by the ultra rich celebraties. Eye surgery using lazers to correct vision back to relatively normal may put someone out of their day by only a few hours although it is still expensive, but we do not (publically) have the technology or ability to further that into specific adjustments for enhancement such as giving someone self-adjustable long vision.
Using a lazer to give yourself a more specific type of vision or implanting something to allow you to switch between 20:20 vision and long sight (or short vision, which can actually be good for jewelers) may be possible by 2030.

There is of course another side to this, which is what technology has been introduced by alien contact. Personal hologram projectors for disguise? ;)

Well... in terms of choosing a technology level, I think I may have a bit of a simplified way to narrow it down:
d20 Modern/Future Progress Levels

Found that the other day on a random check up of the SRD. It lists a few different progress levels that could be easily set as the standard for the room, with plenty of outlines available for things like cybernetic-progress, medical systems advancement, and pretty much everything else we're looking for.

Could even put it to a vote with each option on a poll if need be. Just a starting point. :D

I have been reading a book about the Cannonball Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, that infamous cross-country outlaw road race that inspired several movies like Cannonball Run and Gumball Rally.

(Yes, they actually did it in real-life. Four times, in fact: 1971, 1972, 1975, and 1979. The all-time record was set by the winners in '79: two car dealers in a '78 Jaguar XJS went coast-to-coast in 32 hours and 51 minutes.)

The start of the race was the Red Ball Garage (a typical grubby commercial parking establishment) located on 31st Street, between 3rd Avenue and Lexington. The finish line was at the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach, California.

Maybe there could be a storyline about trying to revive the race?

WHat we need is a TMP version of whatever info. Just like not everyone who plays in the Oerth setting has read about Greyhawk itself, not everyone who plays in TMP will be D20 Modern experts.

Someone tell me if you want a poll or not and what on. ;)
Cyberpunk-wise, I'd kinda prefer not to have any changes big enough to force us to have to change the bits of document already made because then there'd be reason/excuse for things to take even linger... >< But if there are things that can be incorporated into what is already set then post them up and if people agree, cool.

Reviving the Cannonball sounds like a fun idea for a story. How would you go about playing it if there is enough ic interest? hehehe

Maybe a game thread on the D20 Modern gaming boards?

The actual guidelines of the Cannonball are very simple. Each participating team is given a scheduled departure time and a time card. Upon departure, the time card is punched at the Red Ball garage's time clock. Upon arrival at the Portofino Hotel, the time card is punched again at the front desk clock, and the difference in time zones is factored in. The team with the shortest elapsed time from start to finish is the winner.

Other than that, there are no rules. Oh, and there is no prize money, either; the participants do this purely for the sheer unadulterated hell of it.

Participants may drive any vehicle they bring, taking any route they choose, at any speed they deem appropriate. The Cannonball has been run using everything from motorcycles to motorhomes, by professional race drivers and amateurs alike. Any difficulties with the law en route are your own problem. The only thing that matters is how much of your time they waste...

(There is a gentleman's agreement that said vehicle will actually be driven the entire distance. It would be bad sportsmanship to have it transported via truck, train, or plane to the west coast, to have a second vehicle stashed away, etc...)

I'm going to get to maps then, I don't think anyone else is going to drop a line about their business. If they do, I'll add 'em in later

*nods* Hope to have something soon.

Thanks Dontella. :) Having maps means a great deal to me as I've always been a player who likes being able to point out "where we are".

If it's a TMP world game Ssussunriyh, preferably on the TMP board not the D20 Modern one? :p lol! This is an ISRP setting we've been jigsawing after all. ;)

We shall see if this works.

THis is a map concept, of a overhead, zoomed in street layout. Please note, the buildings are not to size, but I figured it would be nice to show them as slightly larger, so that folks could get an impression of what something looks like. It is based of an actual NYC street map, for the blocks and all that.

I'm sharing, because ideas and recommendations from folks would be good to have.

tmp.txt

Also, if Pou has no objections, I'll put together a floor map of TMP, so that folks know what it looks like inside.

Edit- Updated Map.
