The formula they've used since day 1 (when it was called Talk Soup) is take clips from pop culture TV and mock it mercilessly. It has spawned Sports Soup (on Vs) and Web Soup (G4) as direct spin-offs, and shows like Tosh 2.0 (Comedy Central) as "homages."
There are few shows as miserable as Tosh 2.0

Some internet videos are funny, and some are not. But none of them are improved by the commentary of a jackass.

Are you trying to be ironic? No? Well, count my wife and I as those who believe his comic jackassery is the only thing that makes those internet videos remotely watchable in the first place. [Young Ones reference]May I recommend Netflix queueing Felicity Kendal's bloody sickly sweet The Good Life for your viewing sensibilities?[/Young Ones reference] I'll keep laughing with the jackasses.

I'm trying to figure out why we're talking about those guys as spokes people for any form of gaming. Why not try to expand in all directions by showing that roleplaying is hip as well as diverse by bringing in popular females? Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale, or any of the other popular Disney talent before they become the next Brittney/Lindsay train wreck would work I'd think. Course if we want to swell the ranks quickly then start up a YouTube blog with a girl along the lines of Scriptgirl reporting what's coming out each week and D&D, or any RPG for that matter, will become huge over night.

If it was comic jackassery, It might actually be watchable. But at least in the episodes I watched, the comedy mostly fell flat.

The problem is that Tosh treats the videos he mocks as though they were real-life events, when they're obviously performances--he's essentially mocking actors for the stupidity of the characters they play.

This was made especially clear in an interview segment I watched. Tosh was interviewing this kid who'd made some squeaky voice video. It's clear that Tosh expects this kid use his squeaky voice during the interview, or otherwise do something stupid that he can mock. But when the kid turns out to be an intelligent person who is fully aware of how silly he was being in his video, Tosh is at a loss--and winds up sounding like a moron.

In short, Tosh doesn't really 'get' internet videos. And because he doesn't 'get' them, the jokes he makes about them just don't work.
