I don't think so. Even before my daughter started coming to me and saying, "Hey, Dad, can you get on Amazon and download some Justin Bieber mp3s for me?" I already knew the gist of who he was. To not have even heard his name means you have to pretty much not watch TV, not read any news, not even look at any magazines whatsoever, not go to sites like Google and Yahoo!, and not talk to your coworkers.
It's quite an accomplishment to never have heard of Justin Bieber. Just not one that I'd necessarily be proud of...
That's. . .
quite the bizarre hyperbole to be flinging around, really. But hey, whatever.
Far as it goes for me, I do watch [some, though ad-free, and not a lot of] TV, and read a fair bit of [filtered, ad-free] news on a regular basis, but no, I "don't even
look at any magazines whatsoever" (so, one point so far. . .)
As for Google, I use it most days, on average. Again, filtered and ad-free. Yahoo? I have no need for it, but when I am directed there for whatever reason, it's (yep, you guessed it) likewise filtered and ad-free.
Coworkers, I most certainly do talk to, just like you. Along with a fairly wide variety of other people, on many a day, of various ages and walks of life.
I might not see my lack of awareness of random mainstream kiddie sensation A, B or C as "an accomplishment", but in no way would I ever think of it as an actual failing of even the slightest import.
With regards to television, news and the internet, I do things a bit differently than most. Or so it would seem. Jeez. Live and let live, right?
Not sure why I felt compelled to respond, now I think about it. But. . . it just struck me as such an extreme, peculiar, and possibly defensive post, that I kinda had to.
Bleh.
