The new girl

What about "Blackmoor Girl" ?
Uh, how about...

Blackmore's girl? :hmm:

I don't paint miniatures any more, but that's okay, as I already have plenty. But anyway, I'm sure you'll meet tons of like-minded gamers here, DB, including quite a few who're into painting miniatures.

Though the site doesn't get quite the traffic it used to - as in actual threads and posts, not "statistics" or whatever - there are some holdouts, and the occasional new member.

Well, evidently. And welcome. :)

A quick tip on the unsteady hands - press the base of you palms together, one hand holding the mini, the other the brush. While your hands will still shake they will shake together, canceling it a bit. :) (My hands are steadier now than they were about ten years ago. I think it was largely chronic dehydration.)

The Auld Grump

Another trick I have found as my hands have gotten shakier as I have gotten older is to brace my elbows on the table.

Used to paint minis competitively when I was in my teens (thats 20 years ago now).

I remember many moons ago here on ENWorld that there used to be a weekly chatroom hosted by Mark CMG (hey Mark I spy you! :) ) on the subject of miniatures painting.

Three, now that I have a bit of time because my daughter is older, I'm in my mid 40s and my eyes are not as good as they used to be and my hand is not as steady, either.

Might I suggest painting while sitting on the floor, back against the wall, knees bent, miniature on your knee held with one hand, painting arm braced with wrist against your knee. ;)

...or if you are a contortionist, one knee up while sitting at a desk. :p

What kind of accessories does a Dwarf Barbie come with? Maybe a waraxe, some armor, couple of pairs of shoes?

I know this is going to get me in trouble, but:

Chain Mail Bikini!!

the other knee wrapped around your head and your head then tucked behind the knee of the first leg .. .. .. ..

If you define "being social with women" as acting awkward and creepy, then I think we're doing just fine.
-sigh-
Well, it was a fun thread while it lasted...

("Dwarf Barbie": Still trying to shake the image of a dwarf with battleaxe, platemail, hot pink lipstick and pumps...)

I had that image. Then I thought, "I wonder if the poster used to play a Dwarf Barbarian in some game?" Then the two images combined in my mind...
