The new Mind Flayers are here!

One question Hellhound: now that mind flayers are no longer in the OGL, is this book going to see reprint? Or is WoTC allowing this one print run, then never another one? If the second scenario is true, its a dirty shame.

Funny this pic was one of the ones hauled out in the Lockwood vs. Elmore thread a while ago, as a testament to Lockwood's greatness and contribution to dnd art.

Personally i don't think it's all that bad, and I've got to say at least it's well rendered which is more than I can say for some other bookcovers.

That cover reminds me of why thinking of Mind Flayers makes me feel uneasy.

But hey, at least they aren't doing SOMETHING ELSE to her with those tentacles.

does the book use the psionics rules from the psionics handbook? it doesn't say that it's required for use on the back cover of the preview, but given that i don't have that book, i thought i'd better check, as the book sounds pretty cool.

Great to see that Hellhound finally got published.

I take it this means that mind flayers are back in as OGC?

FINALLY!?

Pheh... guess Librum Equitis 1 and Necromancer's Legacy didn't count, since I published them myself originally, eh?

(or any of the PDFs I've published over the last year and change)

And no, Flayers are distinctly outside the OGC, Paradigm Concepts had to beg for permission to release this, with the actual flayer material all designated as closed content.

We are working on an OGC race that will replace the flayers in future products, and that will still use all these prestige classes and so on.

AND I tied all the deities from this product into Arcanis deities in the book I'm writing for PCI right now... :)

Nyah, the cover's fine I think.

I mean heck, how else are you gonna dress your slaves? Chainmail bikini's?

:)

Well, while I know you're just kidding here, or at least I think you are, heh..

If I was a mind flayer, I'd go for either nudity in the slaves or a basic functional tunic sort of thing. Nudity because clothes cost resources, and why waste 'em on food, or else the tunic for slaves that need to do actual work where some clothing is useful, i.e., mining or something.
