The new Mind Flayers are here!

I'll definitely agree there -- the mind flayers look good. Good to see some reasonable tentacle-length on these guys.

I'm definitely looking forward to the book, I was a big fan of Bruce Cordell's Illithiad.

Great cover, very classic sword n' sorcery look to it. Hearkens back to the days when fantasy was testosterone-driven; barbarians wreaking gory hell instead of new-agey elven princesses empowering themselves.

I like and dislike the cover. The illithids look really cool but I could really do without the half naked chick, mostly because it only fuels the current stigmas about males playing rpg's. Also, she seems unnecessarly hot for a slave, she even has lipstick and make up on, as well as a perfect body. If it had been muscley man with his bits almost showing im sure plenty of people around here would get shivers, but dont even think twice about half naked chicks.

Cover rocks! Illithids clad in leather, cool. I like the tentacles being real tentacles rather than amputated wiggly worms on the chin-thing they had going. Nice artwork, and what does an illithid care of slave mode of dress? I like. However in selective buyers-land I doubt a cover ever is a large factor in the purchase of a book heh. :p

What, that RPG's cater to male power fantasies? I'd say it does sometimes. What's wrong with that?

What I do find worrisome is that so many guys these days express such extremely negative reactions over a trifle like a picture of a half-naked generously-proportioned woman. Cheesecake is one of life's simple pleasures. How much politically-correct brainwashing does a male have to be subjected to before every little bit of harmless T&A provokes a sense of outrage and disgust instead of a cheap little thrill? It ain't natural!

I mean, if a guy has a loving, devoted partner then perhaps mere pictures would no longer generate interest for him. Fair enough. However, that alone only justifies indifference towards cheesecake; it is still not enough to replace a minor sensation of pleasure (nature's intended reaction) with genuine revulsion. Are the guys just caving in to the boos and hisses of their insecure partners?

Well, perhaps it's understandable for fathers with daughters, since they're now in protect-mode instead of predator-mode. But otherwise, my eyes will roll of their own accord at any male's whinging about Avalance Press's latest cover.

"Sexuality! How distasteful! I am offended at their vulgar attempt to appeal to my libido and hereby boycott this product!"

Well, speaking as a happily married man, all I can say is. . . keep the cheesecake coming.

Although I can't order dessert anymore, it's still nice to look at the menu once in a while. ;)

LMAO! What, you're not a disembodied brain floating in a jar, disconnected from your filthy gender-objectifying hormones? And you call yourself a gamer? :D

Heh. That's the spirit, Wormy!

"politically-correct brainwashing"?

'sides, I prefer my women on the smaller side. But, this is straying into a rather inflammatory area, so let's just say 'everyone has a right to their opinion' and leave it at that.

Felon summed up my feelings on this issue perfectly, so I don't have much to contribute except to say "Hear hear!" :)

Yeah, go ahead and roll your eyes! That is exactly what the ladies' club in Stepford did when someone tried to warn them!

...OTOH, it does seem those ladies have turned the table on some of their hubbies.
