I always thought the munchkin's RoC is human.

Older D&D: DUAL CLASSING

3e: No ability penalties, Bonus Skill and Feat. Free Level Mixing (no favored class.) Lots of 1 level dipping goodness!

Course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I may be weird too, but I have to agree. I like the feat and the skills. The multiclassing thing is much good too.

If I don't end up human, I often end up Strongheart Halfling... the feat there is pretty darn good too.

me too. i had some hardcore min-maxers who proclaimed that human was the only core race worth playing, because of the bonus feat and skill points.

Which is good. Humans should be a bit overbalanced, to make sure they get plenty of gameplay despite being less cool and exotic than most fantasy races.

Ever since the Night of Elves, anything that makes Humans more common and playable wins in my book.

Well, generaly a lot of people really really like to over-specialize when they Min/Max (best archer, toughest fighter) and only focus on one role. Since humans don't get any bonuses it evens out fairly well (elves can make better archers, dwarves & gnomes can get better HP totals).

No favored class actually means that the highest class doesn't count. So basically if you've advanced human, say, to Ftr / Rog 5/4, you couldn't multi to Wiz 1 without penalty. An elf in similar situation could, because wizzie is favored to him.

No biggie though, since you can plan ahead and avoid these things, but human isn't always superior in multiclassing.

IMO the best race is Human....:D

didn't see it on the board so :
Bariaur
stat adjustment : a +2/-2 but I don't remenber which stat by now
Four legs : Trip attack bonuses
Charge : Will horn your a...
SR : 11 + level
ousider traits : darkvision....
Herbivorous : very hard to die from starvation (except Desert)
and ECL +1 and Favored class : ranger

a good ECL 1 IMO !!

Bariaurs get +2 Str and -2 Cha. Not the Munchkin Race of Choice, but a very formidable race indeed. It's odd that you don't see them played too often.

Now, Githzerai can be easily munchkinised. With their high Wis and Dex bonuses, plus Inertial Armor to boot, a Githzerai Monk is nigh impossible to hit. Same goes for Svirfneblin Monks, but whoever heard of something like that? :D

Volodni from the Unapproachable East seem to me like a really powerful race:
+2 Con, +2 Wis, -2 Int, -2 Cha, medium sized with 30', Cold resistance 5, +4 Hide in wooded terrain, Low light vision, PLANT type :D (immune to poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, polymorphing, not subject to critical hits or mind affecting effects), half damage from piercing, an ability to only need 2 hours of rest and 1/4 of the food and water of a human (still 8 hours to prepare arcane spells), Favored class Druid and a level adjustment of +2.

I do play a Bariaur with a lot of fun (planescape campaign Sigil-beastland based) and I think it's the only race having SR (11+) with Ecl +1 only

Githzeraï are tough yes, but ecl +2 ! a friend is playing a Gith monk/psion, he is not Brutal ! don't count on him to give high damage attacks but Try to catch/stop him is another thing ... very big AC, Save ! (and REF save particulary), stunning attack, move (as a monk + psion power), Cure (psion power) ....well maximized with AC items/Monk belt ....
a pity to catch him !!

to go back on thread I think Bariaur are better than Hobgob for Ecl +1
