yeah, quite sad. I'm on to visit in January sometime, so we'll be in touch.

And she says gaming isn't the same since the perkaset (sp?) ran out! :)

An Arabian Adventures book, with a featured setting of Al-Quadim, or something similar...

with news classes, advice on cultural setting, new spells, magi items, and monsters...

basically like OA, but middle eastern.

It doesn't really need to be a 200 pager, especially as alot of the monsters and stuf are already done, but this book would be fantastic!

Heck yeah - I'd love to see Al-Qua-*fricken*-dim.

I'd love to see the OA-style of books expanded into a whole slew of psuedo-historical settings:

-A North/South American setting, with natives dealing with the influx of the white man.

-An "Ancient Empires" setting which would be in a psuedo-Roman Empire, but with ideas for playing in the Persian, Egyptian, Assyrian, or Babylonian empires as well.

-A Crusades setting

-An African setting, or even two. One would be precolonial and the other would be postcolonial.

-A dark ages European setting

-A Napoleonic setting

-And, just for hong's sake, an Austrian setting.

Yes, I know, a lot of this information could be found in a library, but I don't want 100% realistic settings, I want fantasy settings, in the same way that OA is a fantasy version of Asia.

The next 40$ 200-page hardcover fron WotC should be available from buy.com for $13.87.

Somehow, I got the short end on that stick. I placed my order on one of the last days that the Epic Level Handbook was selling for that price, but never got it. Got an email last Friday saying that it's still not in stock, but they're trying (translation: they want me to cancel, because they don't want to sell it for that price). Seeing as I'm not very anxious to get it, I'm willing to wait more.

Anyway, the next 200-page hardcover should be a Player's Option book (done right, of course). Make all of the core classes as flexible as the Fighter and Rogue. Offer ways to swap out certain abilities for other ones for all core classes.

The Ranger might be able to take certain feats instead of two-weapon fighting and ambidexterity. He might be able to take certain abilities instead of spell-casting. The Paladin might be done up as a prestige class. The Monk might get a selection of supernatural abilities to choose from at each level, instead of being locked into a defined set. Clerics of certain gods might get reduced combat abilities for improved skills. More divine powers to choose from for Clerics and Paladins, instead of Turn Undead and Remove Disease.

I know, a lot of this has been done with d20 books and supplements. But there is definitely still a place for a book like this, and by allowing all the original options, it does not invalidate the core rules in any way.
