The next 40$ 200-page hardcover fron WotC should be a . . .

A book on home campaigns. What heaps of us use.

Mass combat, stat blocks for company v company, so the dm doesn't have to roll % or guess. Give at least a bit of structure to war but keeps it in the background.

Suggested rules for high & low magic campaigns. Discusses the pros and cons. Mods to CR to compensate, changes in treasure tables.

Variant rules for leveling abilities instead of magic item reliance. Probably somewhere in the middle rather than making magic items redundant. 20th level character is still somewhat potent if stripped.

Ditto to:

"Game Builder's Handbook"

and

"Campaign in a Box"

and

"300 pages of Dungeons/Cities/Taverns"

and

"Epic Monster Manual or Super-Module"

I'd pay $40 for any of these.

My most feared:

"Splatbooks - compiled in hardback!"

and

"The High-Level Monster Book for wusses who couldn't min/max their way out of a paper bag"

My additions:

"Waterdeep" or "Silverymoon" Supplement (ala City System and Ruins of Undermountain and FR1, all rolled into one, and done with Ed Greenwood)

"Return of the Archwizards(FR)" Super Module for Epic

"Racial Templates" - a good treatment of how to do various races, but maintain balance in a campaign

"Legendary Prestige Classes" - can't remember who the d20 company was that did this, but they're on to something. There is a gap between 15th - 25th level, where you've completed your first prestige class, but don't qualify for Epic Classes yet. Taking 6th level of your original class, or 1st level of a new prestige class rarely "stacks up" at this level. See Archmage and Heirophant for good examples from the FRCS.

"The Campaign Setting Search - Campaign World" .... of course!

:D

I like Kamikaze Midget's idea - a DM Campaign Creation/Management Book. Man I could use that. I'll also second a d20 mass combat book. I'm still waiting for one.

A Survivor's guide, a la the 1E Dungeoneer's and Wilderness, save with the addition of Ocean and Planar sections as well. Updated, with at least a little more jazz to the tamer sections, such as mining.

Arabian Adventures (OA style) get my vote.

I'll put that on my must-have list already (in case WOTC decides to produce it!).

alright then... lets start a campaign!!!

i reckon the biggest problem would be who to write it. james wyatt was interested in asian culture. what great game designer is interested in arabic/persian/mid eastern culture?

... d20 mass combat system. Rules for running a kingdom, as in an updated and more generic version of Birthright, would be nice as well.

Absolutely. Maybe not Birthright, but right now I'd *really* like kingdom-running rules for PCs, including population growth, resource management such as forestry and mining, taxation rules, upkeep/infrastructure rules, and "general happiness" rules/modifiers for the populace (from "fanatic" to "revolt", for example!). And, of course, a d20 mass combat system.

I don't know about anyone else, but at 15th level, my players get pretty tired of constantly beating on monsters, and while exploring the Planes (and spelljamming, etc) is a blast, too much of it can result in some monotony. They want to run their own little barony, starting from scratch (build their stronghold first, then build a road to the nearest trade way/settlement, then have an inn or tavern spring up, then a village, etc) - during which time the PCs still have to adventure to defend their little realm (opportunities for both dungeon hacking and political adventures with neighbors).

I'm trying to (slowly) develop the rules myself, but I've discovered these days that I have way more money than time... :/ Ah well, wishful thinking!
