Personally, I'm glad they didn't edit it for the happy ending, because it's not a happy ending. The show wasn't coming to a planned conclusion, it was killed by the suits at Sci-Fi (and after the best string of episodes the show has ever done, too. How's that for planning?).

There is no better way to illustrate this than to keep the ending the same, complete with "To Be Continued". For my money, knowing this was in all likelihood the last episode ever just makes the final scene even more moving. I think changing it at the last minute would have been a huge diservice to the cast and crew of the show.

Of course, that didn't stop me from sitting there yelling "End! End! End!" just before the alien ship appeared... :)

One more comment that I realized about the ending...

There was one very definite reason, I think, that Kemper et al. left the ending like is. They don't plan on abandoning the series whatsoever. There are still plans for a movie, an amine series, and even possibly a mini-series. I would sincerely doubt that they would just drop it with no thought at all about the ending.

And if nothing else, I'm sure that the Farscape team will have much less of a problem finding work from now on :)

So maybe the alien pilot was supposed to represent Sci Fi swooping in unannounced and blasting the show to bits for no visable reason? I wonder if Sci Fi execs heads open up like that in board meetings?

That would be my guess.

Well I got hope folks. Mainly because I still believe what goes around comes around. Sci-fi thought they could ignore us. Well looks like they might yet sink under the weight of their own hubris. (Sound a like a certain character in a recent mini-series we all know? :) )

Heheh. :)

Actually, if the heads @ SciFi HQ were aliens that would be presuming they have some kind of greater intelligence. They have exhibited poor judgement and an overlack lack of foresight and intelligence. I'm gonna go with no.

Grumpy Celt, have at them. :D :: I envision a Mooby HQ-esque scene like in Dogma ::

What happened to savefarscape.com? I was going to check out how they were taking the last episode but I can't bring up the website.

After seeing ads for Riverworld, Children of Dune and Tremors: The Series along with the follow-up ads for the season finale of "Stargate: SG1" I find it hard to swallow that sci-fi is getting away from their core programming.

I think Riverworld and CoD are great and feed right into the SF audience.

Now Tremors rankles me (seriously, I cannot see why this franchise prospers. Honestly, are there any "Tremors" fans out there?) As does Scare Tactics (which I see as a capitulation to the reality TV audience) and John Edwards (which is a capitulation to Oprah type audiences.)
