The other semi-finalists of the WotC contest

First Post
On the D&D gameday, 10-16-04, the person that was running the Eberron adventure (Forgotten Forge) said he was from WotC and during his brief introduction when introducing himself to us, he said something about the other semi-finalists that surprised me.

He said that the other semi-finalists (the two Eberron beat out) will get published by WotC and that their release will be two years apart. Basically, he said that Eberron in 04, another one in 06, and the third in 08. I don't know if this is true, but coming from an official rep of WotC, or somebody who is official (I guess he was, I'm not too sure), this did surprise me.

Did anybody else hear of this, or is this guy telling me something that just isn't true?

I recall that WotC bought those settings too, but I don't know if it was ever said that they would use them. They'll probably just mine them for cool ideas.

If it is true (and I do have doubts. Why does it always seem that there are "insiders" running around spilling their guts to random people?) then I would imagine we wouldn't see any sort of announcement on the '06 release until the second half of next year.

Interesting, but even assuming it to be true, I doubt they would give them the same level of support they did for FR and Eberron.

It would probably be Ghostwalk-like deals: one core setting book, and that's all. Maybe one supplemental sourcebook (like Prophecies of the Dragon for Wheel of Time) or one adventure, if the setting sells well, but no further.

Well, I know that Rich Burlew is getting plenty of chances to impress Wizards with his design ability, with design credits on both the Explorer's Handbook and Monster Manual III. (His authorship of the Order of the Stick can't be hurting, either!)

I don't know what Nathan Toomey is up to, though.

Cheers!
